Use of Temp Gun

Hey guys,

Bought a temp gun and was woundering what the proper use/how to use is.
Do I take the temp with the engine running or after running it do I take it. This is during break in period. And the after break in peroid do I take it again after shut down or during the fueling stage or at just certain times thru out the day.onder2:

Aim it at the glow plug, best to do it after a couple runs before it has time to idle too long. Run it for a minute or two so it gets up to temp and then make a couple passes or laps and check it right away placing it close to the top of the head aiming directly at the glow plug. What kind is it?
