Its a 3DHobbyShop 41" Edge 540. Its supposed to be a good first 3d balsa model.

Trim down your servo travel till you get used to it. Those Edge 540s are VERY responsive in any size. Great plane.

Probably something mild to start out and learn with. Either the new carbon cub from E Flite, or the Flyzone switch both look appealing to me. The cub would be a better trainer though IMO.
