Upgrading .15 FE?

Ok, I know this engine blows, but it is coming with an HPI RS4 I got on ebay. I'm just using it in parking lots and streets, upgraded engine is not needed at this point. My friend had one and upgraded the heatsink and doesn't use his engine so I can use his old heatsink, much better than the old version piece of junk.

Anyway, I remmember reading somewhere on here if you put an O.S. carb on it it will greatly increase performance. The thing is I don't know which one it is. I tried using the search but couldn't find it. Does anyone know what carb I should get to help out this engine?

I believe you need the 10E not the 10ER. The 10er is a compression fitted carb and the 10E has 2 screws to keep it in place...My Bad. Ebay is your only luck

John, thats still the wrong carb. That is actually a 10 er, if you look there are no holes in the base, and the listing says pinch mounted. You need an OS 10e not an er. You can find them on ebay, or even a wasted engine and just take the carb off it.

The OS carb will greatly improve the Nitro Star .15, I still have my nitro star with an OS carb, and the engine still runs great. It's not the fastest mill out there but it is very reliable. However I recently put an OS .15 CVX Hyper in my RS4 3, what a huge difference from the Nitro Star .15.

I dont want to get rid of the carb, sorry man. The FE is still a great running engine, so I am thinking of picking up a rs4 3 roller for my 5 year old and throwing that in it. He really wants an on road, spoiled little kid, already has a stampede,lol.

The 10ER will fit as well... I put one on my 15FE. I drilled and tapped a couple holes in the neck and bolted her on.

I don't use the engine anymore as it was about dead when I got it. With the stock carb, it was untunable. With the OS carb, it purred like a kitten, but ran hot.

I have the carb on the engine and the original carb.

I doubt I'll use the engine. It still runs, but in an offroad bashing application, I don't get enough speed to keep air flow up enough to keep the temps below 260.

It's a rotory carb off of a OS 15 cv-r(x). $25 paypal will get the engine/OS carb installed and original carb shipped to you.

BTW, your goldmember "do you like my" doesn't work out right anymore... to bad, that was funny!

Okay, so $25 for the engine, O.S. 10ER carb, and the origional carb? Can I just get the O.S. carb or is that not possible because of selant on there? I have an HPI Polished tuned pipe slightly used I could trade you if you want. LMK.

I'll be putting on an aftermarket heat sink that my friend doesn't use, that should help out the over heating problem.

Lol, yeah I know the goldmember thing doesn't work any more, I've been trying to come up with something good but I can't come up with anything. You got any ideas? lol

The sealant peals off. It's just RTV.

Got a pic of the pipe? Is it for a .12-.18 chassis? I need a pipe for my NMT.

The overheating was more due to the age of the engine I think. I got the NMT from a kid that didn't quite know how to take care of things.

The pipe is the HPI Polished tuned pipe for the savage, it came with my SS 4.6 kit. Yes I have pics if you are interested.

AC, if you are going to continue running your FE, you might want to get the whole mill, it will give you the carb you want, and an extra one way bearing and pullstart. Great backup parts to have.
