The last time out with my Revo I was having trubles tuning and noticed a lot of fuel around the carb. So I put it on the shelf and worked on anther project. Today I decided to have a look at it. I pulled the carb out and pressure tested it. As I suspected it had an air leak. I was cleaning the motor and spotted a crack in the block. Looks like I had the leak longer then exspected. So the motor is toast.

Other then the motor mount what is it going to take to put in an OFNA PICCO EVO2 .28-T TURBO PLUG ENGINE.
Will the Traxxas fly wheel fit.

I just trying to decide if I want to rebiuld a 3.3 that I have lying around or go bigger.

The OS .21tm is meant to be a pretty good engine from what I hear & a straight drop in replacement. Also much more power than the 3.3, so would be a good swap with minimal fuss involved. Might be the way I go if its as good as I have heard, although some ppl say the stock tranny might not last to long with it so the center diff with foc is needed & the rear brake.

from what iv heard, the center diff is too much hassle/no fun on the more powerful engines. maybe if it was stock id give it a go. if your just bashing then you prob dont need it anyway.

i have an lrp z28r in my revo and it halls ass. i need a better clutch tho as the m2c clutch i got seems like it just slips constantly. so maybe i might look away from alloy shoes.

BB conversions are great but also will cost you. in saying that, thats what the hobby is about. just means u need to tinker and play with things.

the new era mount is great, maybe look at that $80 and then go from there with what motor you want. you will also need a BB exhaust. dynamite 086 is decent. or there are some rear exhausts you can get.

The tranny will be fine with that engine and center diffs are a royal pita considering they only have 2 spider gears and require very thick silicone to work well.

Interesting to hear that about the center diff as alot of ppl seem to like it, I don't care much for reverse, actually I would prefer it gone altogether, & the optidrive. I have heard that it needs pretty thick oil to work at its best but thats ok with me. I will more than likely convert mine but will look into it a bit more first. I will go what ever way gets me the best results, as long as I get good pick up & decent top speed I will be happy. A bit of strengthening comes 1st though, RPM arms, Teckno hubs, wing kit, lighter wheels & tires, I want to get atleast 100km/h out of it so some weight reduction to. Time will tell I guess, lol

I ran 500k oil in my center diff and it still had too much front wheel spin for my taste.
A good buggy or truggy calls for much thinner diff oil due to the extra diff gears.

I always thought from what i read about the center diff was, it was good because you could tune the power to either the front or rear by useing the different weight oils. So as to what 2revo1maxx said about the to much front wheel spin, couldnt u adjust ur oil wts to make it distribute power differently? I dont know but have been lookin into getting that setup due to the amount of racing weve been doing so I'm just tryin to get an idea of how it works and if it is a good investment or not? Oh and have to say i am shocked that nobody recomended A Picco motor to Jacks 9930. Normally thats all i have heard when there is people looking for recomendations on motor upgrades. Are people starting to lean more to the OS side for some reason?

Go big or go home. I run a Picco .26 Maxx with the Picco BB mount. I also run an old Trinity pipe. Super power and super loud.

I also run the center diff/rear brake and really like being able to adjust the brake bias.

I run a LRP28S3 with side pipe and NE BB kit. I've also upgraded everythign in the trans to RRP steel (wife upgraded me for Christmas last year). I was shelling 2 speed gears all the time.

The only real issues I had with running a BB is impact protection, trans gears and clutch shoes frying. I upgraded the trans gears (as mentioned), moved the trans forward 1/4" and use 1/8 scale clutch/flywheel/bell, bought a new era 3 point roll bar and put 3/4" spacers on the rear legs to raise them and bought a rear wing kit.

Now my only issue is finding time to run it!

I hated the center diff because 500k oil still didn't seem to be enough for it. Yes they do work to some extent, but unless you're racing you'll probably find the truck to be no fun with it in there.

So what exactly would u benefit by useing the center diff on the track, just the ability to adjust the rear brakes? I dont know but i would think it wouldnt be bad to have a little more rear end power to kinda slide out of the turns. Can u adjust it that far with the oil wts to do that or no? I am asking cause like i said i was looking into this due to the fact that we will have like 5 different tracks next year and our racers number is expanding so i need to have the upper hand on them!

u could try it for the track, but you wont be getting too much sliding out. which is kinda what you want. but when you plant it on the straight it might not get 80% of the power to the rear which is where you want it.

More like 80% to the front. I've heard of using silly putty in the diff with good results, but never tried it.

u want 80% of the power to the front wheels whilst on the straight?

i know in full size cars thats not the ideal ratio, what makes it so different on rc cars?

^^i think that would make torque steer if you came into a corner too quick and nail it
but if the thickness of the oil was right it deff eliminate a chance of it doin a wheelie once you exit the corner
i have seen a 700k weight oil that could be worth a shot,i'm still tossing up to put in my embe coz this wheelies like crazy and 2 of my mates have got erbe and i've got the edge on them i keep the front down and stop snapping center shafts lol

again I'm no pro, but u would get 80% all the time which i would think would make it wanna push real bad with the power down comin out of the corner. Thats where i was stuggling the most really, but i did adjust my front and rear suspension a bit and seemed to help quite a bit. But i think if i could get just a little more power to the rear wheels it would be even better. Could i maybe gain by just lightening my front diff oil? I am running equal wts in both front and rear now.

Has anyone tried the Bad Horsie diff lock in their center diff? I've been running it in my Rustler and Jato diffs, and I like it. No more "walking" on the wheelies, it stays nice and straight.

I'm sure there are some solutions to the problem, but the real problem is in the design. 4 gears would work much better than 2.
