Hey guys, after all the help and advice you've given me on these nitro trucks i think it's only fair i update you with my latest ebay purchase.

I don't know if you remember that i won a quad savage...

I met the seller's father/inlaw at a petrol station and paid cash...

Everything looked how described in the auction on the outside but unfortunatly it wasn't how it was described on the inside...

The Engine had missing screws... and where the start is he tried to put a screw that was too big and so it crack it.. the engine mount was completly snapped and the one way bearing was broken... and one clutch spring missing. the breaks were installed the wrong way!

i bought the engine mount £6
one way bearing £15
and need to still get the clutch spring which i think is about £5

Anyway my neighbour who races nitro every week took a look at the truck for me.. well he did more then look.. he installed all the broken bits and fixed it for me! and he tuned it! he also showed me some tuning tips.. like how to make it faster or slower.
seems to run fine now...
when i first got it .it wouldn't even start.
and now it's all up and running with about £20 spent on it.
i haven't had a proper run of it yet though...

My neighbour was so helpful and kind ..i offered him money for the fix but he says he enjoys it and didn't want money...
he also said if i have anymore problems i can go see him..
so i'm happy about that..
i'll try n get a video of it running when i can
thanx guys :)

Well, on the down side, there were problems. But that can happen with any used merchandise. The up side is that (1) the items needed weren't expensive and (2) you have someone who can help you with maintenance until you learn, and he taught you some of the basics that you'll need to know. That works out great. I'm glad it's up and running and that you're enjoying it.

maybe you should mention to your neighbor, the super awesome forum you found on the web. never can have enough knowledgeable members

I'm glad to see that you're up and running. I think you go a pretty amazing deal, all the extras that came with the truck were worth what you paid for it, and then a whole truck came with it too, can't beat that deal with a stick. You're lucky to have a neighbor who's so knowledgeable. I'm sure he was glad to be able to help, as most of us do what we can to get people started that are new to the hobby. Not only that, but you'll now have someone that can answer questions when you need help, but even better, someone to go bash with or maybe take you to the track to see if you've got any interest in racing.

hey glad it's goin now.
i just sold my nitro's the call of my fg 1/5 monster truck is closing in .
have fun with that savvy.

Nice.At least it works now. The savvy i got off ebay needed new clutch and engine that i didnt know about. so i got like £450 in my savage now. could have bought a new one for that. its hard to get a good one over here thats not super expensive.

That quad body is a discontinued one... Might want to use a standard truck body for bashing.

The quad body is one of the reasons i wanted this truck

it is in brand new condition too! i know i will mess it up if i bash with it...but it looks like so much fun!!

You could probably find them on ebay easily enough, but as for getting them new through Tower, Horizon or any LHS.... Good luck there, my friend. In about a years time, it'll be about as much fun as tracking down an exhaust for a 1963 Volvo Penta AQ100.

The big sign that says "Discontinued" is usually a good indicator. If I were you grrlracer, I would run with the truck body that came with it until you get used to handling that much power in a top heavy truck. If not, I think that body, as fragile as it is, will be destroyed in a week or so, so it still won't do you any good. If you really want a quad body, there are some other quad bodies that are still being sold I believe, and you can save the kawasaki body. I know how hard they are to find, because I had that exact 1:1 quad, and tried to find one of those bodies in mint condition for a while.

Yeap exactly. You've got it right. The Kawasaki is the one that has been discontinued and it so hard to come by. That's why I suggested buying the one that you linked to and saving the other one until she's more familiar with the truck. I'm only stating this because I had a Savage, and I had to learn to drive mine in the grass because the power was irresistable, but I kept flipping over backwards and spent a lot of time on the roof.
