Tx Throttle Speed and Exponential; Other Tx Settings

I will on my nitro vehicles if I’m running a higher rpm pipe/header combo.. or may tame it down some when using a bottom end-mid rpm pipe like what you’ve got for your NT2.0.. Also depends on how blown out, or hooked up the surface I’m running on is..

Anyone messing with throttle speed and exponentials to help with a consistent launch or do you prefer a good ole fingering to do the trick?

Are there any other Tx settings I may want to look at?
I'd definitely use a custom throttle curve if I was running on the same surface all the time. The Maclan DRK 160A ESC has some specific launch settings that are pretty awesome. Its expensive but its probably one of the better no prep ESCs out there atm.

Probably should’ve mentioned that I’m running nitro.

I guess I could focus on clutch and slipper tuning also but really haven’t ever torn into a trx clutch and not sure how much tuning options they have

Just to update this thread for anyone that may come along in the future, I found an excellent video explaining exactly what I was looking for. Not sure if it’s mentioned in this video, but for steering, instead of exponential, dual rate is typically used to tune. He explained it as “you’re not looking to turn the car, you’re looking to correct the direction that it’s going”

Good vid. Thanks, Beer. Tamiya 4PLS here. No longer compete RC drag racing other than my own single runs, so probably don't need a $700 radio. That said, were I running competitively on the circuit. Yes, I'd invest in one.

Am alternating between using THR Expo and THR Speed. Both give similar results in controlling a launch and run up to mid track. Am leaning more toward THR Speed over Expo because the transition to full throttle seems smoother with less 'bang on.' But it's good to know and have experience with both features.

Another useful factor and feature of the Futaba for RC drag racing is the ABS (auto-brake). Coming off throttle and applying braking at the end of a run can result in the car pitching sideways. ABS prevents that and slows the car controllably and keeps it running straight.

Cheers. Green apples and quick times to you. -AC
