Here is a friend of mines NMT. BTW, for the Record, the 8 shocks idea was mine for this truck. (Edit) He isn't a friend, he is family he says.

To start off, not sure where this would belong? I didn't find a Stadium Truck forum except for the HPIo ne for the MT and MT Racer? Anyways...

So it all started maybe a bit over a year ago. I had a crazy idea to put twin 24.7s in the NMT. the 24.7s had just come out, so I didn't really know how they perfomed, but that was the starting point. Well. Funds not allowing me to do the project (I was 14/15 then I think), I had to hold it off.

Then, comes January of this year. I get a decent job, and guess what the first thing that pops into mind is? You got it...

So I started off buying shocks and what not, stuff that I was sure I would need in the end. The whole point was to stick two .21 or larger size engines in the NMT, that's it. I first planned on spending only around 1500$CAD on this, as I already had 1200$CAD into the truck. Soon after, I wanted 8 shocks, twin tanks, all aluminum/ Titanium, etc. The works. That 1500 soon grew. I am now at roughly $2680CAD into the project alone, with about 350$-500$ left to go. Add that to the 1200$ originally in the truck, and you get $3880CAD dumped into the truck. The poor little NMT...

Well, slowly everything started taking shape. First planned was a 5mm+ thick aluminum chassis. Seemed like a good idea. Just one flaw in the beginning. I thought the center gearbox was a bit to the left. Was it? Yes. But were the actual cups shifted enough to make a difference? Nope. Did I notice this? Nope. So I threw out the idea of having the 5mm aluminum chassis out. (I already got the chassis and everything, for free may I add, but I didn't need it.)

I started a thread about the project on www.hpiforums.com . Great support there. Soon after that I started a thread for anyone who wanted to help out, or sponsor me. The responses were pretty overwhelming at times. Lots of stuff at a good deal.

The first one to offer me ANYTHING was Mossdog (On here and on those forums as well). He offered his bumpers for free. How could I resist? After that, came KOLORKRAFT (Kolor-Kraft Titanium)(On these forums and those). He offered shock towers, steering plate, and some other stuff. Well, in the end, I got 2 rear towers, a 49T steel spur, and a custom made, 1" extended, 0.5" widened 4mm thick Titanium chassis. All that for 100$. The chassis itself ran 200$ to produce.

After these 2 very nice guys, I sent Wolfgang of Wolfpack Radicals an E-Mail. He was interested. I got 2 sets of his .21 mounts and flywheels (120$), his chassis brace with a few extra feet of the carbon fiber rod (32$+), and his 2 speed with first gear adapter (78$). For all this he only wanted 100$. I sent him 110$ (USD) to cover shipping. Him being the nice man that he is, he threw in his machined aluminum bell cranks as well (30$+). Nice eh? 260USD worth, for 100$. Of course I jumped on the deal.

Finally, came Laterilus. (On the HPI Forums board, haven't seen him here yet). He wanted to help out, but I seemed to have everything, and it wouldn't be too great if he sent cash or whatnot. But, he does airbrush bodies... So, naturally, that was his offer. He bought an El Camino body and painted it for me. With a special "Iced" theme. I love it.

So yeah. That's a quick word on the sponsors, thanks guys.

Now, 7 months later, I have this to show:

:OMG: that is about all I have to say about that

Look for it in Radio Controlled Car action. I am sure you will get to see videos on-line!

that truck is beyond awesome, I would never take it off road. Just show or street. got any movies?

Are those real Hyper 8-Ports stuffed in there or am I dreaming? I love that truck! Tell me what issue and what month it is in, ima go show off to all my friends that this board rules because I got wind of this project beforehand! Thanks Silent!

Guess who? Me :D

Anyways, I only joined here to answer your questions, so... Yeah, this is pretty much the only thread where I will be. So if any questions, please post here.

P.S. It's my truck, I wrote all that, he just posted it here as a favor for me :D

imnotsure - thanks :D I get that a lot

kwong2001 - It's not running yet, with about 2700CAD into the conversion, and almost 4000CAD into the truck, I have roughly 350-500$ left to go. Give me a couple weeks and it'll be all set.

Çh®i§tiªñ - Again, gimme a few weeks for vids and stuff :D

Thanks for the kudos.

Jon - lol, yeah, soon enough it'll be in the mags, hopefully I will win HPI's ride of the month too. Meh, I say I'm bound to for their publicity. Now they can say "Look at what you can do to your NMT!"

Skipper - Thanks :D Again, gimme a few weeks for videos.

SilentHunterKellen - Yep :D Real 8 Ports :D Original idea was the XTMs. But after being out on the market for a while, and running them, the reliablity and life didn't suite me.

Thanks for the comments too :D

It's not in RCCA yet, but I'm hoping it'll get it. Should be good enough as the first twin engined ST as far as I know.

Again. Thanks for all the great comments guys. I'm always on the www.hpiforums.com boards, you can see me there.

Lata.

Oh, also, here are some shots of the body, custom airbrushed by Laterilus on the www.hpiforums.com boards.

man don't let this be your only thread you got that bling thing going. Hang around. I love the bling!!!!!!!!!!!

That thing is beyond awesome. With everything crammed on the chassis as you had in some of the early images, where are you going to put radio equipment?

With those engines, you may need a ten pound plate strapped to the front to keep it down. That is a lot of power.

Can't wait to see some shots of that thing in action.

yeah, your probably gonna need weights in the front. but the NMT is 4wd so that should help even out the power...anyway enough of talk...

all i could say when i saw those pics was:OMG:
that thing is amazing man. i can't WAIT to see a video. your gonna get some major recognition for that baby man. i envy you lol.

lol, I'm starting to like this forum... Maybe I'll get around to the other threads after. I have some more projects in store for you guys :smoke: (.21 SNR with hydraulics, Baja Savage, etc, etc...)

Anyways, to answer the rest of the Q's:

imnotsure - lol, again, thanks, makes me feel like what I do is worthwhile with comments like that.

SkyMaxx- Electronics I pretty much have their location down. It's approximate, well, the servos are almost precise I'd imagine, I just need some more stuff before I start drilling holes in the chassis to mount the servos. The Rx and Rx pack will be up front, I'll tell you that much. One may have to be mounted on the shock tower even, the other, we will see... There is a ton more stuff that is not pictured, the small stuff, like gears and all that. I need my alloy diff cases before I can build the diffs even. The stock plastics were just there for the photos, so I would have something at least semi-solid. If you notice, there are only 2 screws holding the towers as oposed to the required 4, I just wanted the pic to show approx. what it would look like.

I will have some weight up front too. All alloy and Ti helps out, along with electronics and fuel tanks, 4 shocks up front, etc. Cut still, I will probably have to run a wheelie bar or something to stabalize it on-road.

Banshee - lol, a big thanks to you too. I sure hope I get recognition :D

How are you going to make a .21 Super Nitro Rally with hydraulics? There was a thread about hydraulics in RC's earlier but we couldnt find a way. Is this going to be servo loaded or actual airbags and air filled shocks? Id really like to see this happen...roadster by day....rally machine by night.

SilentHunter - Well that's my little secret :hehe:

But, a preview. It won't be hydraulics, more like pneumatics, but, well, same effect as hydraulics. I can get a whole system for around 250CAD. Thats with 4 pistons, 4 pumps, 4 switches, 4 air tanks, and lots of tubing. Each piston can lift 37kg, in about 1/3 of a second, so power is not my concern. The reason I will NEED the .21 though, is because the pumps will be running off of the engine. There will be LOTS of servos to activate the switches back and forth. I might use either my MX-3, along with another 3 channel radio, or just buy a 6 channel radio.

It will go up/down:

Front/ Back
Left/ Right
Up/ Down

Plus another servo to activate the pumps, and the other 2 servos for well, throttle/ brake, and steering. Just a sneak preview :D

Your definitely gonna need a bigger workspace than a SNR. Well, besides the point-a 9 channel radio from maybe...futaba will definitely suit your needs.
Keep us posted on the project.

Nah, the SNR is actually a perfect platform. I may choose to use a used 1/6 on road chassis such as the TT 6 for a platform, but then it won't be as noticable whe nthe suspension is either fully up, or fully down. The SNR is perfect, that stock radio tray uses up a lot of room, all you really need are servo mounts, and that's it. Plenty of other places to put the Rx and Rx pack...

I don't want to drop another grand into a radio, so a 9 channel system is out of the question probably. I can get a good, used, 6 channel stick, for around 300$, I'll probably go with that, and use my MX-3 for my cars and trucks.

Oops, seems like I made a mistake before while thinking of the pneumatics. I'll be needing 7 channels, and 7 servos. I'll just control each piston with its own channel, that should provide for some awesome showing.

7?
4-Each Wheel
1-Throttle/Braking
1-Steering

Where is the last one coming from?

7th is to engage and disengage the pump.

Christian - looks expensive too lol. I'll probably pick up a used 8 channel, or 7 channel radio. I can probably get one for around 400 Canadian around here. Still though, I have to finish this project off first, then gotta get an engine for my 1988 Cooks Racing/ Delta Inc. Cobra III lol. Maybe a couple servos for that too. Going to the LHS either this Sunday or Monday to pick up another 400$ worth of stuff, should bring me pretty close to completion.
