What recommended hopups/upgrades would I need to turn my stock STORM into or closer to a STORM PRO ? I understand many of the PRO's nicer parts will bolt directly onto the stocker. Thanks.

cvd's all the way around, 7075 shock towers, torque rods, 7075 machined chassis, storm pro shocks, 2 more disc brakes... that's all i can think of now that would be beneficial for performance. the other stuff is mostly eye candy.

L8r,
Garrett

K, Thanks for the input. Just a few questions though. When you say CVD's, do you mean replace the ones it came with. Perhaps aluminum ones or better steel ones ? And what the heck are
torque rods. I should know this but for the life of me I can't make the connection. I thought of going with the titanium towers, chassis, servo plates, etc instead of the 7075 stuff and maybe digital servos. Also, what's a good tire ? Running the new prolin knuckles right now and they wear good but don't seem to grip when the track is dry, loose and dusty. Tell me what you think.

nah... don't replace the cvd's you already have, torque rods are the little turnbuckle things that attach from your chassis to the front brace in the front, in the back it attaches from your chassis to your back differential/shock tower housing. Replace the turnbuckle styled ones w/ the 7075 or Ti ones that are solid pieces. The knuckles are good tires, try getting a softer compound. They will wear faster, but you will hook up.

L8r,
Garrett

P.S. i don't have any of this stuff because i don't have enough money :violin: but if i did, i would have all of the stuff i listed.

I would reccomend the full upgrade as all the parts serve a function to either make it more durable or faster, or handle better. The first 2 things that will help A LOT is the ball bearing brakes instead of bushings and the ball bearing steering arm. Next is the center universals they make your buggy hook up so much more power and you can wait awhile until you replace the back dog bones with universals. I went to 4 brakes and switched back to 2 as I do not like a tight brake. My driving style likes a very soft brake and I use the gas and steering to really redirect my momentum. The Chassis would be next in my opinion as when not if you bend the stock chssis handling is all shot to hell with a bent chassis so move up to the 7075 one. After that its a toss up and I dont want to write you a book here. If you have any more questions or want me to go futher into detail then let me know:breakdown :mex:

I took all of your input and went with Ti all the way with the exception of the Ti chassis (ran out of money). Got the towers, all braces, torque rods, steering arm, and the hardened knuckles and wheel hubs too. My LHS stocks tons of Hardcore Racing hopups for the Storm and the guys there were very helpful and not just trying to sell me stuff but making the same recommendations you guys were. The extra shock mount positions on the Hardcore shock towers are great and give me even more options for adjustments. They recommended some Mugen shocks but didn't have them (and again, I was out of money. Ti sure is expensive). Any comments on the Mugen shocks ? Again, Thanks for all the help.

Only pro? Make it a Fioroni Pro

after you're done upgrading your RTR, you'll have a storm pro. Also you can put all your spare parts together left over from upgrades and make a another storm RTR. Everything minus the radio right humboldt?

Not quite you would need Arms, differentials and cases, wing, wingmount, Tires and wheels, a gas tank, side wings, a radio box and more :classic:
