btw the pull start says 21 turbo on it

I'm glad you asked this question because I'm having a hard time keeping it cool too. Some people say its turbo and some dont'.

The mill you have is non-turbo. A turbo plug is larger in diameter and does not use a copper washer. The fit of a turbo plug must be precise. there can be no dirt or debrise obstructing the seal between the head and the plug. A standard plug uses the copper washer and will seal much better and is also easier to tune. I think the big difference is that the turbo plug creates more compression resulting in better HP gains. I'm sure there is someone here to explain it better than myself. But this is what I have to offer.

Sorry! I forgot to add.... Some RC engines run better at a higher temp. This is the way they were designed. Some manufactureres will tell you a good temp is 240 while others will tell you to tune for performance. Just keep in mind that a steady trail of smoke from the exhaust will help you tune that engine. Don't worry if it runs great at 290, so long as its smokin out the pipe, you'll be OK.

vb i was having probs yesterday the out side temp were like 80 + and i have been running in like 65 temps.try to richen your hs. how is your throtel responce?

My Mill

THis is the Mill I have Hyper 8 port race mill

I am wondering if I need the OS 20 E carb like most people that own this mill.

WHo has the mill that I have? Part # 53218

A good carb will only make tuning easier. But an engine needs to be tuned to its climatice atmosphere. Everyday will be different. And you will need to tune accordingly.

There is only one problem guys. I just busted out the manual for the pcr hyper .21 and it says that maximum operating temp should not exceed 270 and normal temperature for best engine life is 220 deg.
Seems to me that 290 - 300 is above what they recommend. What do you guys suggest to keep temps down?

what percent nitro are you using? Also what type plug are you using?

One point that noone has made yet is what fuel are you running? I've found that Byrons makes my engines run 20 degrees hotter than Blue Thnder (regular or race). That's it, no other change except the fuel and the temps are that much different.

Hello right here

Umm I asked about the fuel!!! I use trinity normally on my TT 21 and I just recetnly tried using HPI power fuel 20%. I have to say that my TT21 ran better with the Power Fuel. I also use the MC-9 plug on normal sunny days but if it gets colder I drop in a MC-59 plug.

Sorry, I was unclear on my last post. I changed from 20% Byrons to 20% Blue Thunder Race and the temps dropped 20 degrees.

so what do you guys think would make the biggest difference? Changing the plug or changing the fuel. If the fuel what do you think i should go with? I run the odennels in my rc10 and it doesn't run any hotter than it should be.

I am not sure what I would do here. I would consult the gurus of Buggies: Error. El Pirata, Msly and Imbroken. They seem to have a handle of the buggy issue.

IMO, swap out your plug ro an OS #8. This is what I use. I beleive Error and I'm Broken use then as well. Then retune and see what happens. When breaking in my Storm and my Savage, I used the stock plugs and bew the one in the Savage and my Storm would never hold a tune. Once I went to the OS#8s, it was a new ball game. Both engines ran stronger and held their tunes. Try this and let us know.

Hey Roadrunner

I spoke to OFNA personally and they told me to use a MC-9 or MC-59. But I have the engine I stated in a few posts up. They told me I needed a long plug which are the two plugs I just stated. If I am not mistaken the Os # 8 is a shorty.
