Do you guys have any advice on tuning my revo on hot days? I spent alot of time trying to tune the low speed today and i could never get it consistent. It would run good for a bit and then just stall, retsarted it and it would go fo 1/2 a tank and do it again. Is there a diferent temp glow plug to run on hot days? Thanks for the help

Any idea what your head temps were? What fuel are you running? What plug?

I don't usually have issues unless it's over 100F outside... but then, I'm not outside ;). I've run in 90F quite a bit in the past with minimal issues.

I did not have my temp gun with me today so i could not answer that one, will bring it tomorrow. I am using the Traxass 20% fuel, I wanted to use another fuel but the hobby shop suggested Traxxas fuel for waranty purpose's. And I'm using the stock glow plugs. Thanks

Run it till it quits at half tank. Many times they tend to lean out too much at half, so when it stalls, tune it at half tank.
Start with the LSN till you get a good idle and take off, then adjust the HSN for WOT.
Once the LSN is set correctly, you rarely need to change it, but the HSN needs to be tweaked for outside temp and humidity almost daily.

Are you still doing the break-in? If not, I'm pretty sure traxxas doesn't care. They only require their fuel for break-in. Also, if your breaking it in, temps will be somewhat erratic until you get around 3/4-1 gallon of fuel through it.

All broken in. I fugured i would run the traxxas fuel for the first gal, and then swap to something better. Right now i am close to the 3/4 gal mark. The hobby shop i deal with keeps oddonel fuel around so i figured that is what i will switch to. Thanks for all the help

Regardless of what I have to say, Rolex knows his traxxas engines far better than I do. I still fight with the stupid things. But it's a fun battle on a good day. ;)

I never met a Traxxas engine that didn't like me. :D

When there was a good track here, guys we'd never seen would show up and ask for me by name. One drove 40 miles to have me tune his 2.5. I never asked for anything, but I sure miss the 10 and 20 dollar bills that got pushed into my T shirt pocket.

The most frustrating thing with this motor is i can't mount it to the dyno i use to tune snowmobiles. Then i could realy tweek on it and truly see the effects of a change.

Played with it some more today. I think the engine has an air leak. No matter what it runs hot. 330 or so. And is real inconsistent in the tune up.

This should get you started:

The only info I would change in the above post is how to seal the back plate. I recommend NOT tightening down the screws for 24 hours.
Place the back plate against the siliconed block and start the screws to keep it aligned.
24 hours later you tighten them down with locktite. That way you don't 'squish' out the fresh silicone, but you will have actually created a thin gasket that will compress and give you an air tight seal.

Thanks guys. I am going to reseal it. I got it to run ok, but it just acts inconsistent. Will Traxass complain if i reseal it and end up doing an exchange down the line? Thanks again

If you use the ERP, they more than likely won't. Basically, if you turn in an engine that has all of it's components (even if components are damaged), the LHS takes it and deducts the money from the new engine.

Just did it a couple weeks ago and the old engine was a sorry POS that I had in a drawer for 3+ years...

TPC it sounds like your in the ariz or cal desert? I live smack in between the two. only problem I have running my truck-is I can't run more than 10 min at 120 degrees. cools down to 98 around midnight.too dark though:angry:
