Just saw in the new issue of RCCA that TT is releasing a Rally car version spec'd on thier S3 chassis. Hmmmm...

Since I do not have time to race buggies lately, maybe this will get more use out of this chassis. I wonder if they will offer a conversion kit for those of us that have the S3 buggy already.

Anyone else know anything more about this offering?

RAlly car huh? I'm converting mine into a truggy. Have to regear and a few other things.

I've got an extra buggy I want to convert into a truggy too. The gearing seems to be the main obstacle, at least if I want to run standard size monster truck tires. What are you doing for the spur gear? The biggest Thunder Tiger offers is a 48 tooth versus the standard 46 tooth.

I have thought about using the 48 tooth spur with a 13 tooth clutch bell and using the Panther Komodo LP tires, since they are just barely bigger than a regular buggy tire.

sorry, got sidetracked.

are there any links out there picturing the rally version?

Do they make rally kits for an XB8??? I'd really like to try that out.....and do they race rally on tracks w/ jumps (I know real ones don't have big jumps), or is it just like a touring car track on dirt?

Diver, FYI, TT is also working on a S3 based truggy. It is mentioned in the same issue, plus I think I saw it mentioned in the latest XRC mag. I'll look again when the wife doesn't have me doing a bunch of chores. (today)

Plaid. Good question, but I think you answered your own question as well. Mostly likely if there were to be any organized racing it would be groomed dirt courses.

On edit:

OK, got the page numbers. On page 76 of the January '06 RCCA mag, they have the S3 EB4 "Rally Game" (yes, that is the name of the car) and on page 82, they have the TTR ST-1 truggy.

Knowing TTR's commitment to the US market I am sure we will see conversion kits soon as well. I checked with two sources (ACE and Nitrohouse) to see if they had the kits or covnersions. Nothing yet.

The ttr truggy is out and running if I'm not mistaken. if you guys would like some pics I can dig some up for ya.

anybody know what is changed from the buggy to the Rally car??? are there any 1/8 scale road bodies that fit the buggy chassis???

Yes RR. I know they areout already. Also checked with nitro and ace before for a conversion kit. That's why I decided to do it myself ... LOL. No need for 2 buggies since the k3 will be my dedicated racer. The TTR has taken the back seat since I got that damn K3. I have a new mission for this eb4.

Plaid:

They show the TTR rally car with a body, so I presume that TTR will offer one. As far as other manufacturers, the 1/8 scale road car thing is bigger in Europe than here so imagine there are some out there, but not easy to find domestically.

Diver:

I am hoping for a conversion kit eventually in either Rally or Truggy for the S3. I plan to use my Hyper 7 PCR for racing as I like the handling over the TTR (funny thing?!?!) and still like the performance of the TTR chassis overall in that I think the extra stiff chassis is better suited for a truggy. Plus, I have the V-Spec in it. Should make for an incredible truggy!

I have yet to see anyone offer the ST-1 truggy, and of course this is the first I have heard of the proposed rally offering. Diver, where did you see the ST-1 one for sale?

Kyosho is doin a rally too, its called the Kyosho Inferno GT. It looks like its based off the MP7.5 chassis like thier Inferno ST. It also says its offered with Subaru Impreza and BMW M3 GTR bodies. $400.

I found this on page 78 in Jan 06 RCCA.

Yeah, AC, I saw that one, too.

Maybe if there are enough manufacturers the Rally car scene may grow. I am really interested to see if TTR makes a conversion kit for the EB4 S3 eventually. Heh, heh, a V-Spec powered 1/8 rally car. :smoke:
