Got new batteries for the RX. Used 5 cell for more servo power and needed a regulator to keep voltage at 6V. The Futaba 9303s rock at 6 volts. It's ready to go I think. Now if only this snow storm and bitter cold would go away!

after some deliberation if anyone is interested in buying this rig just reach out. I love owning it but am afraid to run it so for someone that has one to bash already this can be a sunday rig to add to the collection.

Yes, I know I am digging up bones. I am interested in buying your Red EK4.

Walk down memory lane...I was a teenager and had over $1k in my EK4. I saved my earnings from newspaper routes and mowing lawns to get it. It was a purple V1, and I received the V2 updates. I was active on Midnight Madness and every few years would check in on that site. I never could figure out who owned or ran that site. Monster Pirate had a 2-speed and 3-speed tranny that could be swapped over. I drooled over the 3-speed.

It was this EK4 and other Nitro RCs that helped steer me toward Mechanical Engineering. I would love to pick one up again...

You'll have to try sending him a PM. And that may not work. He hasn't been here for over a year and a half.

I knew it would be a long shot, and I don't have enough posts to message him.

This build thread was awesome. No one is talking about the differentials though. I blew out so many. A big part of the V2 kit was the new cooling head, and the through bolt differential cases. Both V1 and V2 cases are clamshell plastic. The V1 would flex and strip the ring and pinions. The V2 essentially had a through bolt with lock nuts and additional plastic to try and prevent this. That is why companies like MSJ and websites like midman.com were so popular. The truck was underbuilt and under developed. It needed aftermarket support for almost everything...except that sweet .70 motor...it was heavenly!

I will have to see if I can find the video of the 2-speed EK4 racing 1/8 buggies and T-Maxxes. The EK4 was very fast in a straight line but lost ground in every corner!

I actually reached out to him a few years back and purchased this truck.
