I am trying to remove the crankshaft from my trx 2.5 but i cannot get the sleeve out. i have tried heating it, putting a ziptie thru the exhaust port and pushing on the bottom of it with a tooth brush. i have also used wd 40 but it still does not move. does anyone know how get it to come out?

yea thats exatly what i did i think i will just take it to my lhs

When you used the zip tie did you cut the tip off? I had the cut one back to where the ridges start (the tip is weak) and it still took two of them but it did finally come out.

Put the block in the oven for a while like you did and when you pull it out try to place an ice cube directly on the sleeve only, you need a combo of the heat in one and the cold of the other to make it work.

You could try using a peice of wooden dowel on the bottom of the sleeve to gently pry up. Or maybe a rubber-coated pair of pliers. Keep in mind, the pliers handle MIGHT damage the sleeve and/or the crank case, so use at your own risk.

Once you get the sleeve up far enough to get a flat-head screwdriver under it on the top, then you can use a screw driver and lift it out that way.

Or you can shoot some PB Breaker into the crankcase between the sleeve and the crank case (hold the engine upside-down and use the spray tube). Just a little bit, and let it run around to the front. Let it set for about 3 minutes or so, then give it a shot.

Most people want to put things in the freezer and alike and it dosen't really
help that much as the temp diff is not that great.
Heat the upper case up with a propane, butane torch pretty hot after the smoke fly's and it should move. If not a "popcycle" stick or hard plastic in
the exhaust port window and use the piston to move it.
It's perdy much the same method for removing and reinstalling bearings
,,something i have to do in model boat engines, sometimes two times a season for each engine. It's the diff between room temp and 500 or above
degrees is what really makes a diff, specialy in aluminum.

If you don't care about the piston and sleeve, take a screwdriver to it from the backplate side.

If you do ram quite a few (two or three) wire ties through it and then crank it over. That works every time for me.
