Ok ,did a search on truggy info ,and only found pic's, and info on the jt conversion. has anyone done a done a buggy to truck conversion .that explanes all of what they did and problems you ran into on the build and how and what you did to correct it. tips or ideas. gearing info and such.????

I did read the whole thread so I'm sorry if someone has already said this:

I've seen some pics where guys just put MT tires and MT body on a buggy. All you need it MT tires with 17mm hex hubs (Monster Pirate wheels do it) and you'll need MT body posts and a way to mount them to your buggy.

That being said, however, this is not the right way to go about things. When you put bigger tires on something, you screw the gearing over. You'll be too high geared and probably just burn up the clutch. To compensate for this you need to remove that whimpy 41-42 tooth spur and and put like 55-60 tooth spur gear in there.... No problem... right? Well, how much bugger is a 55-60 tooth gear from a 41-42 tooth gear? A LOT!! Now your gear is so damn big it touches the diff brace and it hangs below the bottom of the chassis!! You can't put it back together! So you have to 1.) put the diff assembly on blocks (raise it) and 2.) make a new diff brace with a keyhole design that allows the spur to pass through it. Now, what about that radio tray? 10:1 odds are that the spur is now going to touch the radio tray. Time to bust out the dremel or fab a new radio tray.

Ok say you do all that (or just go get the JT kit) . Now your truggy has the gear ratio it needs to actually do something. What, however, does lower gearing do to performance? Well, reduces overall top speed usually. You also have to toss around tires that are really really big -- that reduces performance too.

I was pondered making an 8th scale truggy but in the end, I didn't.

Yes that helps .I dont think I'll try and fab my own truggy yet , If i do build a truggy I'll more than likely get the conversion kit. Less headaches
