hi I'm new to the site and the nitro truck world.

I just bought a brand new revo 3.3 truck (5309) on saturday and i broke it in on sunday well i had it out yesterday for a tank of gas and today for a tank of gas and near the end of the tank it seems to not go, on flat ground it would go but had no real throttle response and on any bit of an upgrade it would just rev up and not go anywhere. the truck barely has 3 hours on it could someone please help me here i would greatly appreciate it

Check on the plastic spur gear running off the engine gear (clutch bell). There's an 8mm nut on there, it's your slipper clutch adjustment. On the front end of that shaft there's a hole, put something through that hole to hold the shaft from turning and turn the 8mm nut a 16th of a turn clockwise. Try that, if it's better but not by much then turn it another 16th. That should do it, if not, then give us a better description of your problem. Welcome to the forum, you've come to the right place.;)

Thanks I will try that tomorrow in the daylight and see if thats the problem and if not like you said ill try to give a better description.

Thank you!:)

good call 2revo1max. i had same problem. tighten up slipper and you should be fine. dont over tighten...... good luck

Would overtightening strip the spur gear?

I had the exact same issue as the OP. I think I overtightened mine... After I made the adjustment, it ran well but then I flipped it and it wouldn't go, just revved up. After looking at it more closely I realized that about 4-5 teeth were stripped off my spur.

over tightening does cause this issue with your spur gear sometimes, buty also if you remove the engine, depending on how you remove it, you will have to adjust your gear mesh. have you tried adjusting gear mesh?

I had a problem with mine, and I ran the slipper too tight and stripped it completely. Every time a strip a spur gear, it's completely, not a few teeth.

this is the whole idea behind the slipper. it is supposed to slip on the pads when you take a hard hit to the drivetrain. like landing a jump on the throttle. you have to find a happy medium between tight enough it wont slip on hard acceleration, but still loose enough it will give if need be. a good place to start is tighten it all the way down, then back off a 1/2 turn.

make sure the spring is on there as well.

Wrong gear mesh will strip a spur quick. With the right mesh, even with an overly tight slipper, it takes a hard landing off of a jump to strip the spur. Smacking into something on throttle will cause this too. With a good gear mesh, your almost more likely to break a diff than strip a spur. This has been my experience anyways.

+1 on that. Unless you have your slipper set fairly loose (which none of us do, self included). I don't think I've ever (in 10 years) stripped a spur because the slipper was too tight. Ok, maybe once or twice in the early years... Was usually due to hitting the engine head on the ground, landing so hard that the chassis bent (revo) or hit an inanimate object so hard it busted the chassis/engine mount (savage/t-maxx).
