Bought a new Ansmann Terrier the other week, I had it going and went through a breaking in procedure. Then one afternoon I was having a ball in the gravel and then when i got home I realised the air filter had fallen off :\

So i stripped down the thing cleaned it all out with some brake cleaner and blew it all out with a compressor, then I could get it to kick over but not stay running, I didnt change the needles from when I had it orginally running. Now I can't even get the thing to sound like its going to kick over.

I've pulled the plug out a few times and make sure the ignitor lights up the plug which it is. Could the plug still be stuffed even though its lighting up?

I do prime it before I attempt to start it, and when i rip the plug out there is fuel on the bottom of the plug. I've tried adjusting the HSN and LSN screws but yeh nothing, I've also taken out the glow plug and tipped the thing upside down to see if its flooded and all that seems ok....ELP

Try a new glow plug, but more than likely you ruined the engine. Lesson learned the hard way, use wire ties to hold the air filter on. Happened to me once and only once.

Ouch.....Hmmm well I'll have a go with a new plug as soon as I can get one, if worse comes to worse and i have to get a new engine, was just wondering if yous could give me a couple of pointers on what would be suitable or similar for the Terrier. According to a website of what comes stock i have a 3.5 ccm AR-21R Force engine / pullstart.

have u tried going to factory settings on the hsn and lsn ?? maybe you have them "out of sync" enough to prevent it kicking over and starting.

factory settings as in there is a standard we wind the screw all the way in then a certain amount of turns out? or they way i pulled it from the box... cause wouldnt remember what that was and the instruction manual tells me nothing.... i have played around with them a fair bit but yeh :'(

Try priming the car then holding it upside down and start pulling on the pull start without the glow plug in for about 15 times. Then put the glow plug in and do the same thing until it starts. Of course make sure your trims are all OK. Maybe give it a bit of throttle too.

factory settings means, the settings that are defined by the factory for the needle valves on the engine. Many people use these settings to tune the engine from if they have been having issues with tuning. It is possible that these settings are noted in one or other of the manuals supplied with your rig, but in the case that they were not, a google search should help you find what you are looking for.

well i think yuo may did some wrong using brake cleaner it some times make the plastic bigger or some times it can break the plastic so you may habe a bad seals in the needles

The seals on the needles are nearly always, if not always, rubber o-rings.

If using brake cleaner, it CAN attack the rubber and break it down (or dry it out and rot it) unless you used a rubber friendly type of brake cleaner.

That said, i could be wrong !

an other thing could be the tuning no offense but i learned in the hard way i bough my mgt 3.0 i break it in and the next day it was like dead lol till i lear to hear the motor whe you pull the pull start you what i did is lean all so i could get it start on high RPMs then rich it a bit to keep it idle warm it up then try to tuning in that way is more easy try to tuning the engine cuz it start easy when is warm

lol .. well I've just returned from a session of trying to get the thing going, I've made some progress lol I can get the engine to kick over now.

When i prime the engine, I've been putting my finger over the carby and i can feel it spraying out. Is this cause its flooded or primed? Well once i feel that i pull the starter and it will kick over and idol for a bit, then stall. Tried adjusting the LSN but after about 2-3 starts it wont stay running for more then a second lol.

I'm thinking maybe its got something to do with the fuel, cause when i blow in the back pressure hose its pretty dam hard to get the fuel up to the carby. Is it normal to be difficult to blow? or is it usually easy? I emptied out the fuel tank before i started and put some freash fuel in and when i was blowing the back pressure hose to empty the tank into a container even that was pretty hard! Air leak? Blockage? Or am i barking up the wrong tree

Sounds like you are barking up the right tree, fuel should flow easily when you blow into the pressure line. Does the pressure line have a hole in it? Try new line.
Back wash the fuel tank, blow through the fuel line and see what comes lose. If the fuel tank has a internal filter it could be clogged. You can safely wash the tank out with dish soap and water as well.

Ok well i havent done nothing to the fuel tank yet, but i went and bought a new glow plug today and have been messing around with it. I can get it to idle after dripping some fuel into the carby to get the engine started lol it idles for a bit not to bad but after a bit or some throttle its stays at very high idle, and wont come back down i have to kill the engine for it to stop. Adjust the LSN in?
