I hear this is a pretty common problem with the pillow balls popping out, but I can not find any real problem solving answer. Some one told be that there are some "shims" that I could put on it.

In case you need to know my set up:

2.5 Revo with a complete Rb TM523 set up
Alum A-Arms
40 Series Crime Fighters
23mm Hexs

Everything else is stock.

Any info on how I could fix this problem would be greatly appreciative!!!

You are referring to the pillow balls that go into your axle carrier correct. If so then the only solution is to get new axle carriers I recommend RPM they are made a lot more durable then the stock ones.

i agree with grudge, I've also seen some metal rings on ebay that go on the stock carriers. they are supposed to strengthen that area. you would still probably need to purchase a fresh set whichever way you go.

The problem with the stock ones is the plastic area is real thin. Once they pop out ones it will continue to be a problem, especially if you just pooped it back in. The RPM have a considerably thicker wall. I have seen aluminum axle carriers as well but have not used any or seen someone using them.

Are the 3.3 revo axle carriers better? Should I buy the Revo 3.3 axle carriers?

I had the same problem when I first bought my revo, new I went with RPM's grab a new set of pillow balls too, unless you can find just 1, when it pops out it drags against the cement and shaves off alot of metal then it will be loose and work free of the new ones also.

So the RPM's will solve my problem? Or should I go a cheaper route and get the retainer rings that go in the original carriers?

Go aluminum for the carriers with some Ti. pivot balls and RPM A-arms. A revo does not get any stronger than that.
My RPM carriers lasted 10 minutes in the front yard.
I love the RPM A-arms though.

The Traxxas platinum carriers work well. They have the steel ring molded in.I have never popped a ball since.Scroggs advise is the strongest.

I went through 3 or 4 stock carriers before getting RPM. I didn't break a single one from an impact with something, the stockers just broke from off kilter landings putting a lot of weight on the outside edge of the wheels on one side of the truck.

With the RPM's, I never broke one in 1.5+ years of heavy bashing. However, I did have the ball come through the carrier a quite a few times before I realized why. I was running RPM arms, P2 rockers/rods and I had the push rod mounted closest to the chassis on the RPM arm, so it was at it's "tallest" setting. By doing this, it was putting the pivot balls at such an extreme angle, that they easily would pop out of the carriers. I then moved the push rods to the center hole on the arms and never had the problem again.

okay. side question...i'm doing the rpm tru trak rear arms. how do i get the balls out of the stock carriers? do i just push them thru or is there a trick?

take off the blue dust boot on the outside of the axle carrier. Not the one on the threaded side of the pivot ball. You will now see there is a 5mm hex head cap. Unscrew this cap and the the pivot ball comes right out.

That little shock tuning tool that came with your revo works great - use the castle looking head to take the caps off to get to the pillow balls. Then unscrew them (pillow ball) with a hex wrench.
