Hi Guys! I recently got two 2.5R's from a buddy and I'm in the process of getting the second running. I have searched and found aluminum bulkheads and rpm arms are the best mods for backyard bashing and such. I noticed on my one maxx that under decent to heavy acceleration the back end drops significantly. Is this common or a sign of worn shocks? I figured I would upgrade springs and shocks but I was wondering the pros/cons of the traxxas big bores and the aluminum threaded big bores? what does everyone recommend?


P.s. I searched but couldn't really find anything about the aluminum threaded ones
 
The only difference between the two shocks is that one requires spacers to be clipped on to adjust the suspension and one only requires turning a collet. Other than that there is no real difference.

To adjust the rear end of a Maxx, I put stiffer springs in the rear, and put in some thiker shock oil. Some folks even take the two springs off and replace them with one big bore shock off on an 1/8th scale buggy or truggy. You can also change out the pistions in the shocks to pistons with fewer holes in them.

It could be a sign of worn shocks... but really the Maxx has always been droopy in the rear. Just a characteristic of the truck. Even my new ERevo squats the rear on acceleration right out of the box.

Traxxas big bores were nice. They are built like 1/8 buggy shocks. They use locknuts inside holding the disk on the shaft vs e-clips. The big bores are some of the best basher shocks for the t-maxx short of getting UE's supermaxx shocks (hard to find now, converted 1/8 scale shocks).

Most aftermarket aluminum threaded ones aren't that great.

Those pro-lines are really good... might want to snag those up!
