Traxxas VXL-3s motor

I was wondering if the Traxxas VXL-3s esc will take different motors. Is the velineon motor the only motor that will work with the VXL?

You can run other motors on it.

You can run any 540 or 550 brushless motor that works on 2S or 3S. You can run sensored or sensorless.

There's an extra wire that plugs into esc and motor. That's it.

Is it one of the blue, yellow, or white wires that is already on the motor?

Yes but I cannot find a port on my motor or esc for that wire.

But the vxl motor does not have a sensor port, it runs without one.

Should be there somewhere, with some sort of cover on it to keep it waterproof.

Or maybe every version didn't come with it?

I'll just throw this out there and my apologies if somebody has posted it already.
If you go sensored, be sure to plug your motor wires A to A, B to B and C to C.

From what I can tell the Velineon 3355R is not a sensored ESC. Its the 3355X that is sensored.
