Hey as you have all been reading my posts I also have an old TRX .15 truck. Was trying to find some parts for it and I can't even seen to find the truck on Traxxas web site. TRX is from 98-99. Thanks Chris

About the best thing you can do is search on ebay by part number. Sometimes that will turn up some parts. Good luck amigo!

I think i got it. I think it was a Nitro Sport, does that make sense? I seem to be gettin more finds with that then TRX .15. Thanks

Nitro sport seems about right. You'll find some parts, but they may be few and far between.

It aint easy finding parts for it. But i did find a few sites. I ordered a set of t-maxx shocks and springs. They look like they attach the same way. Hope so. Old shocks and springs from 98-99 are very saggy and tired. Ha too much beating.

A Nitro Sport shouldn't be hard to get parts for, my lhs could get anything I needed for mine(just sold it a couple of weeks ago). Traxxas still makes a Nitro Sport and look for Rustler parts, nearly identical vehicle.

I dd order some parts for a Rustler/Nitro Sport. So will see what happens. I got to stick to my Mustang and F-350

I am bidding on ebay for a kit to convert a tmaxx .15 to a 2.5. You think that will work on a .15 Nutro Sport? I just won the auction. So i get the Traxxas kit to change from a .15 to a 2.5. Also got the 2.5 engine with auction. 60 bucks dont seem too bad. Hope it works.

Not likely. The exhaust header needs to come off the truck at a paralel to the chassis angle; the Maxx header would make it come back around over the rear end.

As for the linkages, you might want to look at the manual for a 2.5 rustler; that might give you a better idea of how to mount the engine up.

Well see when it all comes. If i can make long tube headers fit my F-350 and they wernt supposed to, why can't i make one fit an RC, lol. Adapting real car/truck into these little RC's ha i love it.

The only problem with a really long header is you're going to change the timing of the engine drastically, possibly making it extremely hard to tune. These engines work on the principle of reversion waves to keep fuel charges in the combustion chamber (think of it as a post-combustion turbo charger), since they don't have valves.

It's perhaps easier to comb ebay and look for a used 2.5 header.

I just got the .15 to 2.5 Kit today and there is a problem. The carb hits the trans and it wont let the engine sit in the proper spot. I can get it to where 1/2 of the clutch bell gear is 1/2 on the trans gear, but I think this will cause the gear to break because it isn’t meshed properly. Any ideas? The kit was for a T-Maxx but I figured it would fit. Guess not.

Sounds like what you'll need to do is piece the kit together. Look at the Rustler 2.5's manual (since it's fairly close), and that should help you get all the parts you'll need.

You may also have to rotate the carb around. Just loosen the retainer, lift up, and rotate. Press down firmly on the air intake as you tighten the retainer.

If i could make an elbow that would fit in and bring the carb above the trans that would work. I did get it to semi fit. Ill take a look at the 2.5 rustler manual. Thanks For help. Just looked through the traxxas manuals and the rustler trans is part #4491A and the Nitro Sport is 4491. When i look them up on tower they look the same but they must be different to fit the 2.5 but it looks like it is the same fit because the chassis is the same part number. Does anyone have a spair Rustler trans? that had a 2.5 or have a close up pic of the eng and the trans. Thanks Chris

Was doing more research and found out that the trans case is the same on the outside and different on the inside. I Installed the engine with no carb and then got the carb to fit in with everything. I am just waiting for some parts to come and i will be able to finish the budget upgrade. Hope it moves better then the .15.

I finally got all the parts for the 2.5 mod into my nitro sport. I did have a little problem with the exhaust. The kit i got off ebay was for a tmaxx and they engine is mounted sideways so the exhaust runs out the back of the rc for now, untill i get a rustler 2.5 header or an aftermarket. I did have to make throttle and brake linkage. It did take me a while to bend them to the right curves and angles but i got it working great. I couldnt seem to find a glow plug laying around because I just moved and everything is in boxes still. So i borrowed one from my .12 Dynimite. After black and blue fingers from pulling so much it finally started. Wow does that thing move now. I did manage to do some wheelies in my garage and yea it was great. So I would say that is the best thing to do to a tired .15 nitro sport. Ha great. Will have pics when my internet gets switched to my new place.

I will. I'm just at my old house again. Tomorrow hopefully they cable guy will come to the new place and install the cable line so i can have internet. How do i get more space to post pics? I seem to run out of space if i post alot. I put them as attachments. Any help? Thanks Chris

I put a TRX 3.3 in my Rustler and had to lengthen the frame to tame the wheelies a bit, I had a horrible case of understeer,

My current project though is putting a XTM .18 in a Nitro Sport just as a second vehicle, I got everything installed but I'm waiting on a pull start to try it out.

You can either use photobucket, or become a supporting member (which comes with alot more perks than just more photo space).
