Update : Got my Slayer all Broken-In... "8 Tanks worth" I Love this Rig & 1 of my favorites to bash with my bashing buddy said he even like's my slayer & is bit disappointed my SLAYER Pro 4x4 is bigger than his Slash 4x4... LOL I think my Slayer will be a beast once the Shocks & Revo type Suspension loosen up a bit...I am also SAVING UP for another SLAYER Pro 4x4 I like my Slayer so much I want another one so far I got $105.00 saved my Next Slayer I want is MIKE Jenkin's #47 I already have Mark Jenkins #25 I want both the TRAXXAS Slayers....... & the 2 Speed Transmission is awesome as well.. I am only letting my Slayer hit 2nd gear for about 3-5 seconds so far because even thou I have the Engine Broken in I am still driving my Slayer @ about 1/2 - 3/4 throttle I want my 3.3 to break in a bit longer before I really turn the power loose... Man I can hardly help myself until I get the rest of the money up to order another SLAYER pro 4x4 My bashing buddy said I am Nut's getting the same Rig twice but I told him he should talk since he's got 7 Rigs of different brands...

Why not get a second body, and save up for a Revo?

Slayer Update: I took my Slayer out to the Local Park in my area... This area is an ideal bashing area... With mixed surfaces Gravel / Low cut grass / Mulched Area's / Paved areas / Softball field....
Well I started out running on the Paved area's " Speed Run's " letting the Slayer hit second gear & hold open WOT... WOW the Slayer really goes once 2nd Gear kicks-in I was very well pleased with the HI-Speed Run's... Temps where good ranges in 175- 185 deg when checked with temp gun...
2nd run after a 20 min cool down... I ran my Slayer in the Gravel area's & changing to grass areas.. My Slayer performed OK but was on the Shakey side on the Gravel.... Grass area's where no problem.. Upon looking @ my Slayer I noticed my A-Arm's front & Rear where scratched & a few minor gouge's out of the A-Arm's... My friend said the Gravel is too course " Rough " for the Slayer upon looking closer @ the Gravel it was like Driveway Stone & the Stone's had like " little slight jagged edges to the stone " My Friend said the Gravel " Nicked up my A-Arm's " & caused the Slayer to " Shake " as it ran across the gravel... I am Glad I put on the Little foam pad's on the Body Post's that came with my Slayer I had no ware marks on the body from the mounts...
3rd Run after a 20 min cool down I decided to put out my DuraTraxx Quick Ramp's 3 of them on the Softball infield & took the Slayer out onto the Field I started with 1/2 -3/4 throttle not letting 2nd gear kick in & running complete infield from 3rd base all the way around diamond & even in the short cut grass outfield letting 2nd gear kick in... On the infield I was amazed on the handling of my Slayer & the BF tire's hooked up well on the dirt & turned well in the dirt @ speed's & very little sliding the tires seem to bite well & once my Slayer was pointed straight it took off with good speed & all 4 wheels working in tandem " I was very happy with the Slayer ".... Jumping off the ramp's the Slayer took with ease " Only one time I Nose Planted Slayer landed on RT front wheel & on my Roof I went "I think my Speed's where too low or not lined up square on Ramp " But my Slayer handled jumps well Landed good once on all 4 wheels on ground shot off good with good speed's & hooked up well... The Revo type Suspension on my Slayer performed well over the jump's I think it will get better once the Suspension frees up a bit... " seems a tad on the stiff side yet " My Friend said he noticed a bit of rear-end squat @ Hi-Speed's & when Slayer is in 2nd gear.. I seen that too so I might have to crank down on the Shock Spring's on the rear with the tool that came with my Slayer but I don't want to hamper the Slayers suspension too much with Jumping when I go to the Off Road Track @ my Hobby Shop.... But over all I am very happy with my Slayer Pro 4x4... My Friend said after seeing my Slayer Run... That he's afraid to race me with his Slash 4x4 " Witch I challenged him to a race & $20.00 bucks to the winner " He said I have an advantage over him already because I have a 2nd Gear & my Slayer is 10% bigger in length & wider by 22MM than his SLASH 4x4.... So we will see if he Lines up next to me for a race " I THINK I CAN TAKE EM & BEAT HIM WITH MY SLAYER & I AM THE BETTER DRIVER TOO....

Your temps are a little low, you should aim for the low to mid 200s. With them that low, you're putting more stress on the already weak con rod of your 3.3. Is your friend running lipo batteries? If he is he should be able to beat you, unless his driving is that bad.

Yes like he said temps way too low, I'm shocked its even shifting if you are running that rich, mine sure won't. I run mine around 260°.

A well setup slayer and a good driver can easily keep up with a slash tho.

I'm just not impressed with the handling characteristics of the slash, but the 2wd is just plain awful.

The Temps on my Slayer are not exact My Slayer is still on the factory setting's I did not yet fine tune my 3.3.... Temps where taken with temp gun after allowing a few min's too cool down... So temps might as well been a bit Higher....

Well if I were you I'd start tuning it before running it hard again...
