Ok, I was racing again this weekend and while running I noticed that on the regular pavement I was not flipping the truck with stiffer shocks, but when I had none of the spacers in the shocks I flipped it constantly.

So here is my question. If I am running this on a dirt track, what would be the suggested shock system setup for dirt. If I have one of the large spacers on each of the back two shocks and then a medium one under those. The front has a small spacer on each of the front shocks, would this still be ok to run on Dirt?

I constantly spun out when on the dirt and think it had a lot to do with the shocks being sluggish. I had one large on each of the back ones when I was on dirt, and then nothing on the front. Thinking that maybe I needed to have a lot of shock for Dirt since there is jumping involved.
I noticed on the pavement that that is not the case, I need to have firm shocks running there.
I am currently using 35 weight oil. So again, what do you think I should set the shocks to for dirt track purpose?

Update!

Well, I have gone through and bought another set of shocks for the Slash and have been testing out some ideas. And would you know it...I THINK I STUMBLED ONTO SOMETHING!

I took the shocks from a Stampede (from my LHS) and set them to the one hole (this being the 1 hole, 2 holes, 3 holes for the amount of oil it lets through to the shock) for the flow of the shocks and then added 60 weight oil into the shock. Once I did that I did a few spins around the track and noticed that it was not sliding as much as it had been!! I added one of the thicker spacers to this and ran it again and this time IT HUGGED THE TRACK! I was happy as hell. Only problem was I left the front at the 35 weight so when it went over the whoops it bounced the truck all over the place. I am going to get the front shocks from the Stampede and put maybe a 50 weight in the front to see if maybe having that weight there will lessen the bounce and get me where I want to be on this truck. But I was smiling like a kid at Christmas to see that I was not spining out in a 360 degree spin everytime I went around a corner!

Yes!!!:first_place:

Nice man i like the slash, but the slayer (nitro version) is nice.. dont hav it yet but maybe sooon

I'm glad you got it figured out Gary, I'm clueless on suspension set ups, but I think I just learned a few things from your experience. I still haven't made it to my track yet, but I believe this Friday is going to be the day I can finally get there...........that is if I have my rig back together by then. :D

Let me know how it goes on that track Jeff. What rig will you be running? I still would like to come up that way and maybe do some bashing or something.

I'm going to take the Revo out, the LST still needs a motor and I'm more familiar with how the Revo drives.
You're welcome to come out anytime, just shoot me a PM and I'll send you my phone #. I have a couple of places we can run em, one here at the house...... the air conditioning is close by:D and my in-laws up the street have a nice open area to run them too, with a couple of dirt piles to climb.

Sounds like a plan. ;) I will be going on vacation soon, so I will probably take you up on this after I get back.
