What's the best gearing ⚙ for this setup? I'm changing out my castle creations 3800kv motor running a 13th pinion. It runs hot on 3s. That's the reason I'm installing the 2400kvv 1415 motor. All suggestions welcome.

I dont understand the swap. The 3800kV produces more RPMs on 2S than a 2400kV on 3S. That being said just buy a handful of different size pinions to start with and start experimenting. As long as your motor doesn't go over the 160-170F range you're good. Once you find a pinion that gets you in the ball park then you can buy a few more pinions close to the same size as the one you find works the best and fine tune it from there.

Strange, my son runs a 16 tooth pinion but he runs a fan in his slash and it stays warm to the touch on 3s with stock diameter tires.

2400kv or the 3800kv
Oh yeah sorry about that important missing detail. So I asked him and here is what I found. He runs a 13 tooth pinion now but did run a 17 tooth and 18 tooth before and it overheated without a fan and was ok with the fan on pavement with the 17 tooth. The 13 tooth will still get hot if he runs in grass but is cool on pavement. He runs a Castle Copperhead ESC with the 3800 kv motor. The 13 tooth pinion seems to be the best compromise between speed and temperature. All this is on 3s.

Hope this helps.
