I have a nitro Rustler with EZ start that I bought last week and was wondering if you should be able to spin the flywheel with your hand? I tried to turn it but is stuck and will not turn. Is this normal? It seems you should be able to turn it with your hands after you put in ARO to put the piston at the correct position. If this is not normal, any ideas why it is stuck?

yeh hmm the clutch bell/engine mounds my be off-set causing the gears to lock up or the engine may be siezed alco causeing the gears not to turn

get a new one or rebuild it!!! Totally take it apart and rebuild it
Will leaving the car out in a cold winter garage seize the motor? It was left out in the garage one night. Temperature got down to about 30F.

You don't always have to tear down an engine to de-sieze it. First, try to heat the head/block up as hot as you can with a hair dryer (might take a while, bit it'll work). Put some after run oil down the glowplug hole before you do. Then, once you've got it good n hot, hit the starter. It should crank right over.

Are you turning the flywheel the right way? You should be spinning it counterclockwise because clockwise will engage the one-way bearing, and try to spin the ez start, making it lock up. If you havent already broken in the engine, you need to. When the engine is new, the pinch between the sleeve and the piston is very tight (sometimes tight enough to get stuck at the top of the stroke). After break in, it will be easier to turn over.

I was saying the same thing when i opened my rustler on christmas of this year and it seems to just be like that but after break-in it should loosen up dont worry about unless you can't spin it with the ez start either

I'm going to heat the motor up with a hair dryer and see if it will turn over. Right now the starter will spin but that's about it. The flywheel will not move at all...it is stuck. Someone said the flywheel spins counter clockwise so I think I might try and tap it with a screwdriver to get it to spin after I heat the motor. If this is a bad idea, let me know. Thanks for all the replies.

you can relese it by taking out the glow plug and turning the car upside down and running the starter for a coupleof seconds and the if that doesn't fix it tak a flathead and pry the flywheel with the chassis and report results
