Ask KWONG2001 as he is doing a big block conversion for a RS4 2 as well.

The rs4 came stock with a .15 so there should be no problem using a trx pro .15 , using the ez start might cause issues.

All you can do is try, so good luck!

the e-z start will most likely cause some clearance issues and to make it possible you may need to hack away alot of the chassis.

LOL oops I thought wrong. I could have sworn you meant the trx 2.5..... oops

Can I replace the EZ start with a pull start? Would I need to drill new holes or something?

The reason I ask is I have more cars than engines.

Actually, a big block conversion wouldn't matter if you're trying to use a trx2.5. Remember, that's still a .15. I don't know that engine, but at most you'd need different engine mounts and a special header.

Now, to answer the question. I will tell you I don't know the TRX Pro .15 engine. But I bet it's got standard engine mounts. Seems to me like it would be a direct drop in. There seems plenty of room to do it. The only issue I can see is with the header/exhaust. If anything, you will need to use a 1st generation 4-tec header due to possible clearance issues with the electric starting system. Traxxas does make a pullstart for that engine if you'd like to go that route.

Below is my RS4 in it's current form. If you look at where the engine would go, there's about a square inch of space where the electric starter could fit in.

Sounds like I'd be better off just keeping it for my Sport SE.

Basically, the .15 FE uses a standard small block. And most .12-.18 size engines use a block of similar size. So you could use any .12-.18 size engine and it will pretty much drop in. Like kwong and a few others have said, there may not be enough room to use the EZ start, though. If you have a TRX .15 Pro, you can get a pull start for like $15 for it and that will solve that. My $.02? Beat the hell out of your .15FE for now just getting used to driving the car. Then when you burn that one up, move on to something beefier.
