Traxxas nitro stampede .15 help needed

I have got one of the older versions of the nitro stampede with the .15 motor. My son was out driving it the other day and everything was just fine until it died on him. I went to go start it back up and every time i would try to start it the back wheels would turn as well. Seems like something is broken somewhere but don't know where. I have gone thru and looked at the gears and everything in it and they all seem fine. Does anybody have any other ideas as to what it could be? Any help would be great.

Remove the motor and see if the bearings in the clutch bell froze up

may also need new clutch shoes/spring

Will the clutch bell still be able to spin if the bearings are froze? I know the clutch bell still spins.

if it spins and isnt locked up or hard to turn likes are you need new clutch shoes and spring
