So I just bought a duratrax Baja bug with a traxxas brush less system in it. What I wasn't aware of is that it didn't include a battery for the car. I have batteries but they are tamiya typeconnectors. I have an old esc with the right connectors. What I was wondering is can I switch the traxxas esc battery connector for the other esc battery connector?

You can switch them, but you would be better off switching the battery connectors to traxxas high current connectors. They have much less electrical resistance than the tamiya connectors.

I just removed the connector. Is it supposed to look like that?

I'm guessing there is no way I can fix it.

Could I take the ends off of my old esc and solder them on to it?

OK. I probably won't change them. But I did a test solder anyway on an adapter I had for different batteries. Is this a good enough solder?

Just get some new plugs and put them on. If things are cobled up then you will have problems not to mention possible current fluctuations.

more connections = more resistance,
more resistance = more heat,
more heat = more problems.
a new connector is a few dollars.
With plenty of how to solder traxxas connectors, on the internet/youtube.

Like said above, the connectors are cheap. Here at my lhs there less than $4 for two.

I did that and I'm good now. Will a 6 cell 1800mah 7.2 volt battery work with the brushless system with the vxl 3s esc?

You wont get very much performance out of a 6 cell battery, and your run time will be next to nothing at 1800 mah. Consider investing in some quality 2 cell 4000 mah or higher lipo battery's, they will give you double the performance and run time of a nimh battery. If your not ready to move up to lipo, then trade in your 6 cell for a 7 or 8 cell nimh battery.

If you go to lipos, get a lipo charger, and make sure you set your lipo cut off on your esc or you will ruin the battery. Lipos will wake your truck up and be more enjoyable not to mention run time will improve.

OK now I turn the esc on and it doesn't blink green or anything but its on. It goes full throttle for like 30 seconds and then goes really slow and blinks red.

How are you charging your nihms? Are you charging them when they are fully depleted? Are you putting a full charge on them? Nihms have a memory. Other than that I don't know how to.answer that.
