The 2975 charger LED is steady for a while then goes to a 1 blink with or without the battery connected. The 2923X battery has been in storage for over a year and measures 0.2VDC. Is it possible that with the battery so low it won't trigger the charger? I've seen this before with automobile batteries that are below 9VDC won't trigger certain chargers.

Update 12/26/25: I connected a 9VDC battery to the Traxxas battery for a few minutes and brought the charge up to 8.4 volts. Attached the charger and it fired but showed charging complete within 5 minutes. When I ran the truck (Stampede) it only ran for about 5 minutes and the battery discharged. Does long term storage with a discharge battery ruin the battery?

Yea nimh cells don't last that long and degrade after a while. Lipos are so much better.

Something to note, yes it is a 8.4v pack, but a 7 cell nimh can be fully charged to 10.5v (1.5v x 7 cells, 8.4v=1.2v x 7) so with that you might have not gotten the full potential of the battery but I would upgrade to lipo to last you a while.

Heck I ran the same pair of lipos for 2 to 3 years, although the overall pack was like 8 years old from my uncle. Back when I was running nimh (when I started out) I would have to get new batteries every year.

Hi...Where do you guys buy your batteries from? Do I have to get them from Traxxas?

(For lipos) SMC, CNHL, Hoovo, G E N S A C E, Ovonic, and there's a whole loads of other brands out there that are pretty good. Zeee is pretty popular, some people like them, I do but mine had voltage drop issues. SMC and CNHL are my favorite. But if you do upgrade to lipo or a non traxxas battery, you would need a new charger. (Hota D6 Pro, SkyRC T200, G E N S D300, just some good chargers to name)

If wanting to stick with nimh I had good luck with racers edge in the past, no clue if they are still around today.

Where to buy? Amazon has most of them. I use AMain Hobbies alot, and if you have a local dealer/shop, I support them at my best.
