Is there another brand carb that will fit these motors ?
Also we just did a carb swap on two traxxas trucks 3.3 ,the one wouldn't tune at all, the motor is sealed. So I took a carb I had in my box ,put it on that truck and it ran great, now here is the kicker,we had another truck that wouldn't idle ,so we took the carb I just took off the other truck and put it on this truck and it ran great!!!! This has me baffled!!!!:\
This is the reason for my question will another brand carb. for these motors??

Thank you,
Ed

the 3.3 carb can be replaced, dont know about the 2.5. get a O.S. 11k(18tm) 21982000
it is a aluminum body, some people dont like aluminum, but i have had no trouble. it has 3 adjustments, high speed, mid range, idle. i have put a lot of time on mine have not had to adjust the mid speed. i payed about $80. it is straight bolt in, no mods nedded. the numbers i listed came right of the package

An $80 carb for an $80 engine? I dunno. I'd buy the Dynamite .19 that I seen on ebay for $95 shipped way before I'd put money into a trx mill. On the carb swappin', I'm willing to bet that one time the carb wasn't seated/sealed properly, the other time it was.

well. a $80 engine? i guess iam not up on the latest engines. but the stock traxxas 3.3 carb is about $45. but haveing had both, the O.S. IS the better carb. sometimes you get what you pay for.

Well hes not far off..
eBay for $100-$120...

But you get the point hes tryin to make :)

3.3 is $75 bucks with a trade at the lhs. $105 out right. The fellow has 2.5/3.3 carbs on the shelf for $25. Complete. I've seen new 3.3's as cheap as $60 on ebay with $10 shipping. So, I hope your $200 Traxxas engine runs well.;)

Semotorsports - I think Metalhead is on the mark concerning his thoughts about one time the carb not being seated/sealed properly & the other time it was...

On the other hand - even if Moe spent $200.00 (in total) on his Traxxas mill, I can think of worse ways to spend money. He's having fun and at least he's not a crackhead/methhead junkie just pissing away his funds (at least I assume you're not Moe). I kinda like Moe's tip about the OS carb - plus you can move it to a new engine and spread the cost. lol

Traxxas moved the bar on affordable performance engines when they first came out with the 2.5. Their quality control ticks me off, but I'll admit that I've spent a buck or two improving the performance (or reliability) level of one of their mills.

BTW Moe - The 2.5 and 3.3 use the same carb - so the OS carb will fit a 2.5 too.

when i traded in my 2.5 for a 3.3 it cost 130...

for the record i have had two 3.3 engines, go bad. and no iam NOT blaming the engines. i drive like i stoled them. but i didnt do the traxxas trade in thing. dont get me wrong i think its a great program. i just bought the the parts, cause i wanted the experience of working on the engines. it is very easy to work on them.
