i just bought a new 2.4 ghz radio and receiver for my truck problem is the traxxas "failsafe" isnt much of a failsafe. It only returns the throttle servo back to center instead of locking the brakes. Does anyone know if i can use a different receiver with that radio or am i just gonna have to save up and get a better setup

In the case of a runaway, due to loss of signal, returning the throttle to idle will stop your truck in a very short distance. I'm not familiar with the Traxxas 2.4 system, but maybe you missed a step as far as programming the fail safe.

Did you program it? Or was it programmed out of the box? If you didn't, then do so, and when you do, hold the trigger on full brake as you do it. Most 2.4ghz systems come pre-bound so many don't bother to set them, just run it and forget it.

i tried an aftermarket failsafe but it doesn't work with the built in failsafe i haven't tried to program it. i called traxxas and they said that all there failsafe does is put the throttle servo back to center and there is no way to program it to set the brake due to signal loss. which to me says they made a crappy built in failsafe.

I really don't see a problem with it. Runaways at full throttle will kill anything. Shutting down to idle will bring it to a stop.

yeah it does bring it to a rolling stop my old venom failsafe locked the brake at the first sign of signal loss. if I'm going 45mph towards an object and i lose signal I'm not looking for a rolling stop I'm looking for a complete stop. it may just be me but the traxxas failsafe going to idle and a rolling stop equals more parts to buy

i agree with tmaxx dude above me. i want a failsafe to return my throttle to full brake. with it at idle, somepeople have a fairly high idle set. so the engine will stay reved up alittle longer through corners and such. some peoples idles are also set so high that the car will roll forward on idle. AND sometimes middle of the servo is not idle. like i know that with me i need to have the trim on my radio set in order for the throttle to open and close completely (i tried a illion times to work around that)

so end of story pretty much your driving twards an object, you lose signal, even with a failsafe that sets to idle you go....roll.....SLAM!

i have a spektrum radio and i love the built in failsafe. i have mine set to full brake and full turn. so just in case it will spin my truck right out and its not going anywhere
