i have been through 2 spur gears in 2 weeks, with very little run time with each gear...just the stock plastic ones, the first gear was trashed with the stock hpi 25, the second one was with the axial .28 engine, and the axial will just tear it up in a matter of seconds...should i just invest in a metal spur gear, or whats the chances that something not aligned proper, i would attach a pic but i can't get a clear picture to come out
thanks

are you talking the spacing between the spur gear and the clutch bell gear? or the spacing in the spur gear area?

and also, i have about 5 teeth that are worn out, would i still be able to run it, just to see if anything else is a problem? it wont cause premautre failure anywhere else will it?

i buggered my spur gear on my savvy x first day. turns out it took a hard knock landing upside down and moved the engine bout 2mm away from the clutch bell... was enough to rip a tooth clean off and strip the rest. metal spur gear now, with fkn tight tight engine mounts. shweet.

10 spur gears stripped

i have stripped 10 spur gears and 4 clutch bells in the last 6 days and nobody can seem to figure out why. i have a savage 21 with the new 3 speed transmission and have tried running a axial .28 and an OS 30VG and now am using a Force .32 and it keeps stripping them. my spacing is good, the slipper is tightened right and one time i left it a little loose and i still stripped them. the frone and rear difs are good i just replaced them both from a different problem but they are good, the inside of the trans is fine all of the teeth are still looking new and good the screws are snug and not stripped. i am running a 15T CB and have run a 52T, 49T, and a 47T spur, also tried a 16T and a 17T CB with no help. my friends can't figure it out and they guys at the hobby shop are just as confused as i am. if anyone has any ideas i would gladly try it. thanks in advance.
