After finally cleaning/rebuilding my .21 Tmaxx from the Winterbash in Fla.... I took her out for a spin & heard this horrible noise from the Tranny.. Upon opening it, I found this....

It turns out, I bought the RRP Al. gears back when I rebuilt the tranny last... Time to upgrade to the RRP Steel I guess...
I'm thinking I should replace the bearings in my case while I'm at it... Any suggestions on a bearing to go with... Anyone know the sizes off hand? I'll have to do a little research...

Ouch, looks like you have some work ahead of you. While your at it, you should consider loosing those reverse gears & putting in the FOC conversion.

Later...

There are no reverse gears..... I was running the RRP Al. FOC & primary gears...

You may want to look into supermaxx gear, as you can see, RRP doesn't hold up to well to a .21. www.unlimitedengineering.com is the site, you can do the whole tranny for under 100 bucks and never have to take it apart again.

Here's a list of Boca bearing 4-packs (Rubber Green Sealed). I'm pretty sure it's the 5x11x4 set you'll need.

By the way, Disturbed joined Damage Plan last night at the House of Blues for Walk. The place EXPLODED! Draiman kicks ass!

Dude that tranny is done maaannn (in his best Jim Brewer voice). Well, I guess I'm not ever going to reco that anyone get RRP Alluminum gears again. Sorry BigBoysTOys.

Slodsm - Yeah UE kick ass but you don't have to get the UE gears. The Steel RRP gears will hold up to as much power as you can put through them. I've got a buddy running a Mod'd Picco .26 with all steel RRP tranny gears. If they couldn't take the heat they'd be out of the kitchen by now as he's run over a gallon through that engine with no problems. It's funny to with UE as they use "hardened" allum. for their primary gear with no problems but steel for everything else.

Nice carnage IMbroken.....86 all those reverse gears my man.

Sweet jebus!!! Those things are toast. I sure don't remember you doing that much damage in Orlando.

There are no reverse gears... Thats the stock 2 speed & Primary your looking at...

I have the RRP steel and have about 2 gallons of 21hp cranked through them. I also have an aluminum trans case to prevent flexing. I'm runing the boca bearings as well.

Last time I checked was right when I hit the 2 gallon mark. The RRP top 2speed gear comes with a bearing that is specific to the RRP gear. Boca makes those as well. Anyway, the reason I had it apart was because that bearing fried. All gears in the trans still look like new. I use basic axle grease on them as well.

I'm back in action.... Thanks to RRP Steel & some Boca green seals.... I'm also running a RC Raven Al. Trans case.

That sure is puuurrrrrrrrtyyyyyyy.

I run the boca's and I really like them. Although, I have had a few toast on me on my axle carriers and my diff outdrive cups. But they still last pretty long.

I'd make sure you have a couple 6x11 bearings for the RRP two speed spur shaft gear. Mine fried on me and no-one carries it. Boca carries them. Tower carries the steel sheilded one from RRP as well.
