What EXACTLY is the difference between the black and gray transmissions on a Maxx? I have a 2.5r maxx and going to put a FOC in it and wondering if i should just save up and get a gray one from ebay. Will the FOC make my tranny stronger? And will it stop stripping gears in my tranny? Tired of ripping the tranny in and out to fix a gear cause the reverse. What all would I have to do if i was to get a gray tranny? Thanks for the help.

the gray tranny is alot stronger than the black older trans. if you plan on adding more power to your truck i would save up for the 3.3 tranny and do the foc to it.

with the foc it doesn't matter get the RR forward only in your black trans and you will be fine

the oly thing that was really beefed up the newer trannies is the reverse

wrong? the foward gears, 2speed unit, slipper set up and shafts are different too not just reverse and the case. the 3.3 stock tranny is almost as strong as the older tranny hopped up.

okay maybe but i believe dont quote me about this that most of the part numbers are the same

my stock 3.3 engine didnt do crap to my old pro.15 trans with the forward only
