I bought a TK-950 in 2010 and 14 years later it's still going strong. It's a clone of the 60W Hakko 936 which was a solid unit when it was being produced. These are good price these days.

For $21 you can get a tip enclosure and a T19-D65 Chisel Tip which will let you solder up to 8AWG with a bit of prep work and 10AWG easily. You can get both parts from Hakko.

Would those stations be better than the old Weller station I have now? I think my Weller is a 40w. Can't remember
Yes they would.

yea with my weller, with smaller wire like for my mini b, its perfect. While for the bigger cars. I have to wait a while to get it hot. But however old it is, its still going.
The trakpower is a 60W station so, in the sense that it's more powerful it is better.

60 watts to me is bare minimum for 12 ga. 10 ga that iron just wont do it

75 watt weller led for 22$ just can't leave it sit for longer that 25 minutes
You see iam a tad over kill on a few things RC related and electronics..My VOM about 6 four Flukes 2 el cheapo 5$ or under My solder irons about 20 from AC 300 watts to DC and butane 100 watt n 200 watts..solder I have atleast 6 For aluminum to Old cast Iron pipe solder
I know whats required in soldering and not leaving Seagul droppings (cold solder joints,)

If the TK-950 isnt cabaple of 10 AWG wire then explain to me how I managed to solder all of these contact points on 8AWG with one.

would I be able to send you my motor and esc out of my slash? cause I need that wiring redone. Tried the extend the motor wire so I can have the ESC in the stock location to make it preform better. And yesterday while bashing my motor was cogging really bad like if I were to unplug one of the motor wires so guessing a bad solder joint? cause we all know my solder skills lol.

Sorry Grey .I was just messing with you. Herd through the grapevine you dont take that so well.Iam sure Iron might be good for others just not me.I get my iron from estate sales for next to nothing ..

I have this soldering station with the rework station. The hot air gun is perfect for heat shrink tubing. I paid $56 for mine off ebay, but the price has gone up a bit.

I also installed the tip enclosure and Hakko tip Grey mentioned above. It struggled to do 10awg before because the biggest tip was fairly small. But with the new tip it does a really good job.
