I would like to thin my collection but I've never had any luck trying to outright sell anything online. There just simply too many shady MFers out there. I don't participate in anything on FB in any capacity anymore and marketplace was barely useable anyway. Craigslist is almost useless.
I would like to arrange some method to trade unwanted RCs with other like-minded people.
Thoughts 🤔?

Start up an rctrader site? 🤔 In all seriousness, I'm the same. Hell I dont use the "social media" features of this site.

I had great luck buying on craigslist buying. I bought 2 tmaxx, my rs4 3, 2 trx minis, and sold my Hpi E10.

Maybe a Sticky could be added to the top of the Classified section for safe traders we've had good transactions with. The forum already has a solid set of rules for trading in the classified section.

Yea it’s all kinda sketchy eBay is sometimes a scam fb marketplace isn’t bad except you meet people usually at their houses Craig’s list is not even a big thing anymore start a used rc website

my wife shops and sells stuff on FB and I shop and have sold on both craigslist and eBay and forums sites for stuff - thankfully we have never had a scam. We don't do a lot of either, but we've done it all.

Actually, I did have one potential scam - it was on this site for my WTB add for my fuel cell. I caught on to their scheme and ratted them out to Woodie, I think, and he put the ban hammer smack down on their stinky little Keester quick.

Forums like this one used to have a built in rating/feedback system for buyers/sellers. Guess that went away with an upgrade many years ago and I didn't notice it.

This is from an old screenshot I have when this forum was still called RCNitroTalk.com, image is from 2010... It shows where the trader feedback score used to be. When you clicked on it, you would see feedback as a buyer/seller like you do on ebay with all the users they bought/sold from with links to the thread the transaction happened on.

A lot of the forums used to have something like this. Gave you a wee bit of comfort when buying/selling things to people you don't know.

Yep. I remember my first couple of deals... heck, I remember my first online purchase almost 25 years ago. Was terrifying to be putting my credit card number into a website... was for a tachometer for my car from crutchfield... which I then shorted out and killed 30 seconds after taking it out of the box.

Now I just throw my CC wherever whenever and don't even think about it. lol!
