I’ve been looking for a Jammin’ CRT.5 1/12 Truggy for a lonnnnnnnng time, and swore I’d give my left nut for one if I had to.. The one I had 20yrs ago was THE most fun I’ve ever had with ANY surface RC, period… They’re just so cool…

Super well engineered, extremely durable, drive a LOT like a 1/8 race trugg, and are just a BALL.. I ran a nitro before, but would take a brushless today if I had to..

OFNA/Jammin’ made soooooo many, that you can still get just about anything you want for them BNIB on eGay, misc. forum classifieds, Marketplace, and even some Hobby Shops..

Well I actually found one… Also it’s at my “most desired” price for one in GOOD condition, that had been well maintained, and very little wear.. As luck would have it, it’s legit less than 45min West of my driveway.. -and it’s BRAND NEW IN THE BOX…😳 Also the guy is tossing in a new brushless motor, ESC, Servo, and receiver.. Faaaaaackmeee…

They’ve began to demand quite a pretty penny these days, so I began to look around for a similar “back up plan” a couple months back, just in case… Looked at the Hobao Hyper 1/12 Mini ST nitro, and electric, but there are a list of things I don’t love about them, AND they’re in about the same category as the CRT.5-being they haven’t been made in years either, and they don’t have even 50% the parts support.. Boooooo..

Then checked out the Team Associated Reflex 14B… Meh… Pitiful motor mount setup, no steel spur option, plastic tub chassis, etc.. I’m not paying top dollar just for the name on the side… No thanks, Thunder Tiger-not today..😅

I do believe that as much as it pains me-I’m going to pass on this mini-unicorn, and grab an LC Racing 1/14 brushless Pro Kit mini-truggy…

They’re still being made, parts support is tremendous, parts are inexpensive AF, and it won’t be a royal PITA to source a second one for Mrs. Littlemotor.. The Jammin’ CRT.5 sure would be cool to have, and check all the nostalgic boxes as well-but I really believe it’s the smarter move for a mini-truggy in this particular case.. Still doesn’t feel amazing, but I swear I know it’s the right move. Adulting (barely😅), sucks…

I'm pretty sure there was no wrong answer in those choices! 😍😍😍

It sure FEELS like after looking for one for so long-anything that’s not a CRT.5 is wrong AF, lol… Just trying to think on it without emotion and shiit.. The LC Racing is the one for sure.. I’m not a fan of slippers over a proper center diff (1/8 scale *uggy all day long son!), but I’ve done my homework, and they work very well in that trugg, very consistent, and replacement parts are available, and inexpensive. I’ll get used to it.. 😅

Are you sure you wan't to pass up that CRT.5? Next time it might be $400.00 for one in that condition.
That’s EXACTLY what they are currently. That’s why it’s a real mind-fack for me to pass.. This one is half the current price point for a BNIB one, and it’s 100% legit.

The LAST thing I wanna do, is be “that guy” that overpays for old stuff because he won’t adapt to what’s available today, and in the future.. 😅

OMG! This IS a big change for you! 🤣
The slipper is your FRIEND!!! 🤣
I've heard only good things about those LC Racing kits from a few members here. They are the kits that all the "cheaper" brands copy (poorly).
Its a solid choice. I want one or 5 too! 😍😍😍
I have never run a small buggy like this before... I'm VERY interested in your impressions of this whole build!

Hey now... I resemble that remark!!!
If Kyosho hadn't re-re'd the mid, I'm not sure where the used "unobtainium" prices might be but its a very real concern!
I like old buggies and honestly, I'm not a good enough driver to win right now anyways. 🤣🤣🤣

It definitely won’t be until after Christmas-I’ve had some health BS I’ve been trying to get sorted out, and the bills haven’t been the cheapest.. Still have other irons in the fire first, and haven’t touched my own RC’s in over a month.. Plus the track build, the unplanned septic debacle, etc.. I’ll definitely do a thread or two, but it’s gonna be a hot minute..😅

You should buy it anyways and put it on a shelf somewhere. When the itch comes back, there it is!
That’s the thing-the “itch” will be better treated by the LC Racing truggy imo.. I’m not at all saying I don’t wanna run 1/12-1/14 truggy, just making the right choice for what’s gonna be the smartest purchase-regardless of how long I’ve searched for the OG Jammin’ platform.. 😎

Health issues certainly ain't cheap. Hope it's not something that can't be taken care of sooner rather than later. 🤔

Feel better soon! We'll wait here patiently...

I would be concerned that you might get the urge to "shelf" the rare ones.
Since you run and run hard, parts avail are a must so the little guy is out for now too.
Unless you just HAVE to have it... LC is the right choice. 👍🏻

No doubt man.. And I work for myself, so even worse.. No “PTO”, and I’m “self pay”.. 🤮

I don’t have a tremendous amount of faith in MD’s, and over the course of the past 6mos or so-there’s no reason to think any different.. Just a bunch of guesswork imo, and no real diagnosing… When your vehicle is F’d up-there’s a big difference between being a mechanic, and just “throwing parts at it”.. I haven’t seen much “mechanic’n” going on, just a lot of prescribing, and what I call spray n’ pray medicine…🙄😔

I feel you-I’m just not the shelf queen guy.. I keep my stuff clean AF when not in use, being punished, or being maintained-but that’s the extent of my shelving.. I think I’ll be proud of myself in the end for leaving the past in the past.. 🤙

There is a reason they they say Dr.'s are "Practicing" medicine. I've seen too much of that in the last few months myself.

Exactly. There are some good ones-but they’re VERY rare imo.. And I know you’ve both been put through the wringer over there.. I don’t at all mean to make light of that craziness by any means.. I’m pretty hard headed, and stay TF away from Dr’s, so if I’m seeing one, or three 🙄, something is definitely wrong, and I just can’t take it any longer..

I used to be the same way, waited long enough to see the doctor that it cost me a surgery. Now If it isn't right in a couple of weeks I make an appointment.
