Please excuse any confusion. I've been .. dazzled. It's what happens when you roam internet hitting Banggood after googling "rc buggy". There's just no stopping that left mouse button.

.. so my project: lubing knuckles, trimming shocks, and checking gears and wheels before running any of these wild meatballs off the edge of the world. I've only tried my DBX-10 and that 8-scale Verdikt ("Redcat Camo x4" in the civilized world), rest of the pack I dare not power up "due to their agressive nature" 😆 . Let's keep it stock boring for now, maybe some up-hopping with option pats later.

So, what's this; HSP VERDIKT 1:8 , or the Camo x4 by Redcat. I'd guess it's the less inbread cousin of the Yeti, but that's probably just my imagination. These clones seem to be made for several regions under various names, which makes them almost .. criminal?

Here comparing the Verdikt to the Raptor 6S, (or whatever it's called on other planets) . Same measurments but the Raptor is alot heavier due to its metal bottom plate and beefier drive train and wheels.

Here 'the Banggood monster' DBX-07, in plain english the "bigass mother" (?), compared to it's lesser self the DBX-10. I was about to buy a used Yeti XL but I already own two real cars and parking space is limited around here.

Closest here is the "Invader", by HSP and the truck version "TT" of the Verdikt, both scale 8 and very Yeti-like, like Yeti, we like YETI and YETI likes us.

.. any one else here loves the old Yeti too? What is it about that weird big wheeled freak of a car that's so loveable anyway? I'm obsessed with it.

Yes, there is something about rock racers that draws me in. Probably the realistic scale look with driver figures is what does it. I loved the Yeti... for a hot couple of moments.

😁 Are fun, indeed, for what they were designed for. Great group of RCs you got!

Finally got my Yeti. I was lucky to find one on ebay, from the US and in good enough shape. I took some time to disassemble it all to check every detail for any sort of problem, checking all bearings and to clean and re-lube the gears. A typical damage was the front arm shafts (AXA0128) which I had some fun with trying to straighten out, it worked out pretty well. Some scars on the body, which ofcourse is expected on an vehicle of this character, so I carefully and precisely enforced the whole body from inside with aluminium duct tape.

I think it came out rather well. It isn't a 100% original as I'm using tires from my RR10 Bomber. The rims it came with were a set of white Methods (AX31365) colored purple !? And tires were actually very nice and beefy 2.2 crawler type "Super Brkrc", which I've swapped to my Bomber, 'win-win' 😁

I just couldn't find a set of AX12021, still these desert tires are quite good looking on the Yeti, don't you think? And I did manage to find two pairs of original NOS rims (AX31118).

Also I noted that it had several aluminium upgrade parts in place, which ofcourse increased the price. I'm not sure how I want my Yeti, yet. I've ordered a set of original plastic parts trees left-overs for the Yeti so I'll have a few alternatives.

So with rebuilt shocks, cleaned and re-greased transmission and everything checked and washed, I'm very happy with my Yeti this far.

Thanks boys. I'm watching my Yeti, contemplating its simple and distinct design, imagining various color schemes and livery, if it were green it would look like a frog - a frog named Yeti. With its low standing and soft wide crawling suspension, and that rear slant with those two 'hip fins', it looks more like a frog than Tamiya's Frog.

Well doesn't it !? Kind of like an angry frog, ready to quickly jump up and bite you in the face.
