OK I AM A TOTAL NEWJACK TO RC,BUT AM DYING FOR A RC MONSTER TRUCK.I DUNNO I JUST FELL IN LOVE WITH EM.
MY PROB;EM IS WHAT TO BUY A SAVAGE OR A TMAXX. NOW I've INVESTIGATED THOROUGHLY THROUGH WEB AND MAGAZINE BUT can't DECIDE.I've BEEN HEARING ALOT OF COMPLAINTS BOUT THE TMAXX ENGINE BUT NONE BOUT THE HPI....................HELP ME

There are more to the trucks than the mills. They will both have very mmminor mill issues because they are stock issue. But nothing that should prevent you from buying either one.

Honestly, both of these trucks are so good you could flip a coin to make the decision for you. But if you want my opinion, get the Savage. I have both and right now the Savage has taken center stage for me.

You can't go wrong with either one!

SOUNDS BOUT RIGHT...I JUST REALIZED THAT PEOPLE ARENT FEELING THE TMAXX VS SAVAGE QUETION...HA

ONE MORE QUESTION.....AT THE HOBBY SPOT BY ME THE TMAXX NIB W\COTROLLER AND ALL THE EXTRAS WAS 528 GOOD OR NO GOOD........EXTRAS I MEAN BATTERIES TAX FUEL BOTTLE FUEL ETC

I would have to agree with Christian - its kinda like picking between a camry or an accord. Both are very equal, just a personal opinion. I like the savage the best for everal reasons, but please keep in mind that RCNitro mag just did a huge comparison test, and the TMAXX won in almost every cat. You can read the article here: http://www.rcnitro.com

yup i saw that but I'm skeptical like theres an insider from traxxas in there lol.......jokin...but 400 bux iz 400 bux i just wanna spend it wisely

I wouldnt go by that review, because if you have noticed TRAXXAS has an advertisment on like every other page in that mag. Remember $$$ talks and the BS walks.

lol twizted - ya gotta point, of course i do work in the advertising business...soooo.... lol

but if u read my post - u would have noticed that i still recommended the savage, although, my neighbor has had a nitro stampede for about 5 years, and the thing still runs in tip top shape

Another thread asking this question, man do people not know how to use the search function or what?

Welcome to the board newbie...ask your questions, but please take the time to use that little link at the top of the page labeled "search". You might find the answer to your questions. Then you don't have to wait for a response.

BTW, both trucks are great. You just have to decide where you want to put your money. You say 400 is 400, but what you fail to see is what happens after you bring home the MT. Once you start driving and breaking your new toy, the cost of repairs and replacements starts to come into play. So far my Savage has been more cost effective in that regard.

Which do I recommend? I'll say go Savage, but don't be disappointed with the T-Maxx if you have to go that way.

T-maxx or Savage you win. Both companies products are in abundance at any good LHS. I like both companies and both are rockin trucks. I tend to lean toward the T as it is the one I bought because I was new to the sport(who am I kidding I still am) and Traxxas has better tech support and it seems way more companies produce hop-up parts for the Maxx but it was out 2 years before the Savage and the maket is rapidly producing hop-ups for it so its hard to say. If you a green newb than go Traxxas just for the simple fact you can get help all the time. This is not to say that whenever I called HPI the didnt help becuase they did with my RS4 I just think Traxxas has more people helping in tech support and more hours. Either way your set so go buy something!

Get a Magich Wheel for $200 some odd dollars and an XTM .18 & conv kit for another $130 instead. At least that's what I did. :)
