my dad has a tmaxx and the only time it will really go is if you hold the gas wide open and it takes about 8 seconds to really get going up to speed. i think its the clutch but not really sure. thanx. :)

i know it aint the slipper because the nut is as tight is it will go and none of the pads are worn out cause we just replaced the slipper pegs and spur gear.

Prob. is the clutch then, not to much else it could be other than another clutch in the tranny or are all your bearing ok? Could be some resistance from the driveline binding somewhere? Id try the clutch though.

It very well could be the clutch shoes, they could be totally worn out, or glazed over. For about $14 you can replace the shoes with an mip clutch, which is much better by far than the traxxas clutch.

it doesn't have the stock clutch i dont think i think it has a robinson racing and does anyone think that it is a good clutch and spur gear brandn for a tmaxx or should i jux get a whole new clutch and spur gear assembly.thanx

RRP is kickass dude. take the clutchbell off and sand the inside with some fine grit sandpaper, you should also sand the mating surface of the shoes. This might cure your problem.

Personally, I'd stick with a stock or kimbrough plastic spur. It's cheap and relativly easy to fix when it breaks.

As for the clutch, if the sanding of the shoes and inside of the bell housing or replacement of the shoes doesn't clear up your issue, you may have your main one way bearing inside the trans going out on you. It's part of the two speed that makes it go.

If you do replace the shoes, make sure to sand the surface of them a little bit to get the factory glaze off them before installing them. Also make sure to do the same to the inside of the cb housing.

i dont think it has the 2 speed tranny anymore i think my dad bought an unlimited engineering tranny that has a lifetime warranty on it.

I know the sell trans parts, but I didn't and still don't know if the sell a full trans replacement.

Here's their trans parts page: UE Maxx Trans Parts

If memory serves, I think they sell a sut conversion that replaces the trans with a center diff, but I'm not positive of that either.

I run some SuperMaxx suspension and have known of the site, its on my favorites. But I dont believe they sell a whole tranny thats warrantied for life?

well the dude said that if we ever have a problem with the tranny to take it out and send it to them and that they would give us a brand new one and it was for life.

That is wierd that there isn't anything on thier website about a full transmission... just the FOC(two types, one for their 1/8 diffs and one for stock diffs), top gear and some spur gears.

the dude my dad bought it from lives in virginia and that is what he said and i have been jux now looking on the website and i too havent seen any full trans. but that is what the dude said.

My problem may be similar...my engine just revs, and the clutch doesn't really grab... sometimes the truck shudders a bit and lurches forward... but doesn't drive. I emailed Traxxas about this because this is a brand new truck and this happened when I went to break it in... they told me my fuel mixture could be too rich, causing the rpm's to not reach a level where the clutch grabs... I'm new to nitro, so I have no idea, but if Traxxas said so, I guess it could be the source of the problem? I don't know much about taking stuff apart yet, so I'm gonna try that first and if it doesn't work you will see me post more! :argue:

personally i think traxxas is a liar because you r supposed to have it set rich for break in because it lubricates the inside of the engine and everybody is supposed to have it set rich during break in. did you check the needle setting and make sure its set to break in, it should already be set to it. idk.

I think your having different issues. Until break in is done and you have tuned the engine for performance, don't expect it to shift well or rev up well. That's with any nitro that's new. Depending on the engine, you may not get full power out of it until you hit a gallon or so. 7 tanks isn't break in... it's the beginning of break-in.
