Hey guys, I have a T-Maxx .15 that was converted to an XTM 457 .28 PRO with the xtm big block chassis. The engine runs good and the truck can get up to around 20 mph. However, it won''t shift into second. I have done everything possible to get it to shift. I have taken apart the transmission about seven times and lubricated the pawls and even replaced the second gear with a brand new one.
I think the reason may be that I have a more powerful engine in it. PLEASE HELP

read more than 30 pages on traxxas forum and that was the major fix..sorry I was no help

Could be your slipper is slipping when it does shift into second. That was a bit of an issue back when I ran a big block maxx. Does your slipper have all 12 pegs in it or just 6? If it only has 6, try putting in 12. Will allow it to grab better, but still slip when necessary.

I have the slipper 1/4 out from all the way in. I have 12 fresh pegs in.

Tighten it until the spring is fully compressed and see if your issue changes.

Ok. I did it fully compressed once and it wheelied. Now with 1/4 out, it doesn't wheelie anymore. That might be the problem but i don't think it has any effect on the shifting.

Just go easy on the throttle to avoid wheelies while picking up speed and see if you hear it shift.

It will affect shifting. I've run into it quite a few times where my slipper was slipping and you could hear the engine speed up, but not the truck.
