these things are starting to make me mad. i have tried about every type of glue, but they keep coming off the rim. what kindof glue do u guys use and do u have any tricks for them to stay on better?

bryan

I use a CA glue that you can work with for up to four minutes before it starts to bond. However once it does bond it never comes off. Are they chrome rims and have you cleaned the inside of the track of the rim of any chrome. If chrome is left there good luck getting it to stick ever. Later

i think there is still some chrome in there. but i have had them glued before and they didnt come out. it was when i boiled them to change tires, now they dont stick.

Super maxx truy using a dremel to make sure you get all the chrome of. I used it on the inner part where the tire sits in and also on the rim of it. Anywhere the tire will touch you should hit it with the dremel!! good luck

The first thing you need to do before starting any project is think.
  • What do I want to accomplish?
  • What do I need to do it right?
  • What are my road blocks?
  • How do I remove my road blocks?

In this case you want to glue tires.
You need Glue, rims, and tires.
Your road blocks are getting the tires to stick.
What would make them not stick?
Un clean surfaces and or the wrong glue.

Now you need to research the glue to get. This is a hobby where gluing tires is common. Get Tire glue.

Clean the surfaces you are going to glue. What are they made out of? Molded Plastic and rubber. What do they use while molding plastic and rubber parts to keep them from sticking to the mold? Oil my friend. What cleans oil and doesn't leave a residue? DA. Go get some DA. What else might keep them from sticking? A sealed surface. (Chrome) Remove the chrome. The rubber is pores and will absorb the glue so you have no worries there. WHat else make two surfaces stick better? A scuffed surface. Now you need some fine sand paper or something similar. WHat does sanding do? It leaves dust. Clean the rims with DA again. Read the directions on the glue to tell you the best way to use it. Read yes I said the dirty words Read the directions.

Now after thinking, reading, and thinking again, go and do the job properly the first time. Your brain is the best tool you have. If you remember to think first you will have a lot better success in life.

All the stuff mentioned above...

As far as glue goes: I bought this stuff called Flash Black that was recommended to me by an LHS. It's CA-based and the label describes it as "rubber toughened flexible super glue".

From an assembly standpoint it looks great. Although I haven't put any miles on these tires they seem to be rock solid.

Eddy, you forgot to say: "See the tire... Be the tire..."

I use a CA glue from mt LHS thats called Tire Glue. It is black CA that contains black rubber. It is gap filling and drys in 3-4 minutes. It looks great. Sounds like the same stuff with a different name.

remember you want one that won't dry instantly just incase you need to make some adjustments

I guess Eddysaid it all!! I'm not getting involved in this 1

nice guys, well looks like i am i going to have to get CA glue. i have been using fingernail glue for girls fake nails and that stuff dont come off. but all of a sudden it was starting to pop the tires off every time. i will also take and sand the inside of the rim down and "scuff" it up a bit

thankz guys

You can also try to use Locktite 404, we got this glue here at my work and it is some bad sh!t. I am sure you can find it at you local hardware store. If not, and you still have problems, PM me to let me know and I will get you a bottle here at work and send it to you if you need it. It is really good stuff.
