Hey guys I kind of decided to post this in hopes of helping someone. I bought a set of new rims for my stock savage tires and needed to remove the stocker rims. Well after using the search feature here I decided that boiling rims was the way to do it. On my first one that I did I ripped the tire. I don't something like this really exists so here ya go. This will work if your tires float as you put them in the water. I boiled mine on one side for eight minutes and removed it from the water with a set of bbq tongs and broke that side of the tire free. Than put it back in the water with the side that is still glued face down for another eight minutes than pulled it out and broke that side free and voila it worked perfectly.

nice tip, pretty similiar to what i have done. now lets see if the mods can pin this to the top of the forum so people dont have to ask. we all know some people dont see the search function.

Well maxx the main thing that made me do this is for the simple fact that I ripped my first tire I believe due to not enough time on one side. I had no idea what I was doing when I started. OH yes also try using a towel to separate the rim from the tire and break it free so you won't get scalded.

Personally, I get a pot that is big enough to submerge the whole tire, then I set a brick on the tire and let the thing boil for about 15 minutes.

I use tongs to hold the tire and a smoothed piece of 1/2" pvc to push the tire off the bead.

i boil mine for like 20 mins or so then let them cool. when they have cooled i just use my hands to take the tire off. its always worked for me too......

are the tires any good after all of this (givin that you dont rip them)? I'm sure new foams would be necessary .

Yup the tires are perfect you only need to let the foams dry out if they happen to get wet. Honestly they only get a little bit wet man not bad at all.

i have reused them all. tires, wheels and foams are all fine once things have dried

Reusing your satuff saves you a hell of a lot of money. I suggest you do it.Just my:2cents:

For the record, if you use an amount of CA on the tires that an excessive person would call excessive the boiling will not get the tires off no matter how long you boing them! I just had a set boiling for over an hour and the tire was not showing any inkling of coming off. Stock glues tires had no problem coming off though.
