Well I talked with the fiance last night and she said I could put a deposit down on a buggy to reserve a kit for me. My LHS is selling out of everything here lately and I want to get my name put on a buggy before I am waiting until July to get one. Racing season is comming up soon and with my LHS being the only one for at least 100 miles, they are the hot ticket.

I was looking at the Jammin X1 CR , and the Sportwerks line, the XB8 and that is it so far. I have eliminated the Kyosho line, and the new Hyper 8... I am not going to spend a grand on just the kit.

Well I guess right now my criteria for a buggy is this.... It has to be a kit ( I really enjoy building them), it has to be affordable.... ie around 500 to 550. It has to be durable, reliable, and nimble. Also very adjustable. There are more things I am sure, but the last thing has got to be hop up availability. That was my main gripe with XTM the XTerm Pro has virtually no hop ups available. Anyway, I am open to ideas and advice. Thanks guys. Oh... and I am not under any time frame here so I don't have to buy it tomorrow or anything. I would like to get it buy the summer, but if not then no big deal. I just want to make sure I get the best buggy for my money.... well what I can afford anyway! LOL

well if you can up the initial cost about a 100 bucks just get the Prospec or XB8-TQ....both are about as hopped up as you can get right out of the box.......
if the cost is a huge factor I still say stick w/ the Jammin series....the advantage of carrying less and being able to support 2 race rigs is VERY nice.....

You know Plaid... that is what I am heavily leaning towards... but I didn't want to make a hasty decision. Does anyone know how well the Jammin Buggy is? I have never seen one race and do not know if it is capable. I just wanted to make sure I didn't hastily buy something just to buy it. Since I am not under any particular time frame I have some time to look. Money is a factor, but not to the point where I have to settle for a cheap buggy, I just don't want to spend the money for the Kyosho stuff and the Hyper 8. Also my LHS stocks Ofna parts by the thousands and said getting the Sportwerks stuff is easy as well. I guess whatever buggy I buy I just want it to be capable right out of the box and user friendly. Is the $100 bucks a down payment at your lhs?, or is that a standard down payment? Just curious.

I hope I am not upsetting anybody here buy asking about buying another rig right after the CRT. I am not in any way showing off or trying to pretend I have lots of money. In fact in order to get this buggy I have to use everything off of the XTM buggy. I just want a good buggy while I have the chance to get one. I hope I am not pissing anybody off. I am not rich, I am just addicted to the hobby, and building that CRT was the most fun I have had in a while! So if I have upset anybody or seem like I am trying to show off, I apologize... that is not the case at all. I am just excited about the opportunity I have. In fact I am sure I could best use the money elsewhere or even save a bit more, but I just love this stuff so much sometimes it is all I can think about. I work hard, and like to play hard to. Thanks guys.

Hey I understand the building part being an addiction....I love seeng a rig come together and be able to tweak the settings....I spent last night trying to get the RC18 finished..I just need to solder some battery connectors to teh ESC and Batt ack and it's gonna fly.....WOO-HOO....Mamba and FT kit yeah baby....
Anyway.....I meant if you can raise your overall budget another 100 I'd say get the best....Prospec or XB8-TQ....I'm partial to the XB8 myself but the mugen is just as good if not better depending on your driving style.....you should check those out if you can.....I heard alot of fuss over the Jammin buggy when it first came out but most of it was the fact you can get a competitive rig for less....not really alot of "WOW this thing kicks ass" more subtle comments about handling and alot of price point comments.....now the XRT seems to just be the poop in the truggy game since it's more reliable than the LSP and those are the only 2 that are true truggy kits..not buggy conversions w/ wheel hub extenders......

Ok, cool I understand now. Yeah that is the plan. I want to look at all that is available before I make a purchase. Thank you for the info on some of the hot licks out there right now. I mean another benjamin is not big deal when you are spending 5 right? LOL I just hope I am not ticking anybody off. I am just fortuniate to be in a position to be able to get it. I am not at all rubbing it in anyones face at all. I hope that is not the impression I am giving. Anyway thanks for the info and keep the info comming. The more real world info I can get the better. Thanks again.

Hey Plaid,

I just wanted to let you know that I am still on the fence about this buggy thing. The sportwerks buggy is not a kit, it is an ARR. The Jammin factory Team is a full kit. The money for both are about the same. The Jammin buggy is about 35 bucks more. If given the choice between the two... which on would you choose and why? Damn.... that sounds like a question on a histroy test! LOL

Tom

I wouldn't get any sportwerks buggy/truggy.....I just cringe looking at hte quality on the parts...yes even the pro versions.....the TT is very nice too...it's got a PBS type setup and real strong....the upper arms look real beefy too.....on par w/ the Jammin if not better.....

Godale, you already have a Jammin' CRT, right? I would go with the Jammin' factory team kit. I opted for a Prospec, but the Jammin' was the other option I was considering. I like to keep parts to a minimum, so that's why I'm suggesting the Jammin FTE since you already have the truggy. The Jammin' is a nice buggy. There were a couple of guys here locally who just got sponsored by Jammin' and before that were driving Mugens. All I can say is that their first night out with the Jammins, they were faster than they were with their Prospecs.

The Jammin' is nice, and since your running the CRT it's probably the logical choice. One of the guys that works at the LHS spews out several choice words right after someone mentions Sportwerks. He had a buggy for a very short time, based on what he has said about it I'd probably never consider one myself. I have an XB8 and like Plaid mentioned they come with just about every damn thing you can think of. If you find an older kit you can buy everything you need to make it a TQ.

Hey Revo,

You are right I am hooked..... big time. It is definitely an addiction! I used to be into alot of different things, but since I have gotten into RC, everything else has taken a back burner. Building the CRT was the icing on the cake. After that kit, I was done. Forever doomed to building Diffs, and threading turnbuckles... Man life is good!

Thanks for the advice guys....

I never expected to be looking for another kit this soon. I mean I knew that I had to build another, but man after getting the CRT done, I had to do another. So I caught the fiance in a good mood one night and just talked to her about the possiblity of buying another kit, which she replied "No problem" I was as excited as a kid at christmas!

Picking just the right buggy is a tough choice especially since I have elimintated the top of the line stuff with the Kyoshos and Hyper 8. I would like to put a deposit down on a kit this weekend. This buggy build will be slower to take shape than the CRT did. I am not able to buy everything at once. I have to buy a piece here and piece there as the money is available. I am not complaining though!

Well I will look more into the Jammin buggy. The Xray's are sweet, and I will look into the TT. Keep those suggestions comming! I have not made a decision yet.

Man this is great! Take care.

Oh, man the grasshopper is sweet! Speaking of sweet a buddy of mine brought in his Midnight Pumpkin Crawler to the LHS the other day and that thing was sweet!
