so i decide today to swap out the servo on the redcat ascent 10, i wanted to drive it so threw in a stock servo i had lying around.
the swap was uneventful and easy.
after the swap not so much..
my throttle has now decided to leave the chat,
i recalibrated the controller ( stock rtx-4c)
I've recalibrated the motor/esc (hobbywing quickrun fusion pro) (long hold pwr till green and resets)
I've checked that the wires are secured to the reciever. (they are)
I've checked for frays in the line. (theres none)
I've tried a new battery that was at 99% ( one in video 2s @ 99)
I've swapped out the transmitters batteries for fresh new set. (took the plastic off the packaging)
it will drive ok it appears then just decides to stop? i feel like i can sometimes force it to happen if i jiggle the steering for some reason.

o and as i went to record a video of the issue, a new one arrose. the servo started doing the dance of death. so looks like i gotta swap em out yet again lol

What did you do now 🤦

Yea it can be the BEC. I had a similar issue in my mini b and I thought it was receiver or esc related but it turns out my signal wire on the servo was pulling out causing the Rx to brownout and sometimes turn / overturn the servo randomly. Not saying it's a servo issue but a probably a bec issue. Could also try a glitch buster cap and see if it can help but a cap on the receiver is like a bandaid, just a temporary fix

EDIT: I didn't link anything to "BEC" I don't know why it takes you to amazon lol
Amazon is affiliated with RCT so that's why if you type in certain key words it will automatically link. 😉 (same thing if you type in a certain battery/charger brand it will pop up as something else as they were spamming the form at previous times)

ok cool, this is good, so if i replace the servo with a known good servo, both issues SHOULD stop? thats a relief. i hope this is in fact the issue

good thing i didnt take my spare servos apart to try to make a winch... pfft that would be REEEAAALLL silly of me to have done that lol... fml

Servo doing its dance tells me its bad, its probably pulling a load trying to find center. I don't think the BEC on hobby wing crawler ESC's are particularly powerful, so it probably wouldn't take much to overload it.

I've also noticed that my FlySky receivers (ANT Protocol, not too sure on their AFHDS protocol like on the redcat branded flysky radios) are very sensitive to brownouts. They don't handle minor voltage drops to the point I couldn't even run my Tekin T180 on my Tekno without a cap pack on the receiver and even then, it would still brown out if I pushed the car really hard. I'd throw in a known working servo from another car and see if the problem persists, that's probably going to be the easiest method of diagnosing for OP in this situation.

Servo moving by itself. You sure your house ain't haunted?
my wifes a witch, she heavily honestly believes we are alledgedly haunted by Cleland, he died in my bedroom about 15 years ago, wife swears he still lives here..

Fusion pro bec is 6/7.4v 4a continuous 🤷
Yea I see HWs are good internal BECs

Yea so servo it can be

Have you tried crystals to ward out evil spirits? 🤣

If it doesn't work, at least you'd get a cool crawling course out of it!

got any other rx/tx that you can use/test?
not tonight sadly, ill have to decide which truck is broke the most and swap them out possibly tomorrow, I'm too frustrated with it for tonight, worried about stripping out a screw in anger or some such, come tomorrow with clear head and calm hands

i had an epiphany as i was watching the ufc ppv,
my settings on the hobbywing!!!!
i slapped the program card in and checked setting #2
lipo cells.. i have it set to 3s and i was using a 2s battery!!!!
swapped batteries out for the normal batteries i run rather than just the closest and
VIOLA!!!
i was getting something like a low voltage cutoff going on because the esc wasn't geting the prper power from the battery!!
missed the end of the fight to tinker but ill danged!
problem solved!!
if i had given the CORRECT info in my first post ( the part about the batteries) this might have been diagnosed even faster! i even specified that i used a fully charged 2s battery! OMYLANTA
you guys were handcuffed by me forgetting that i had adjusted my settings to not accept these batteries as they are too large and just wont fit.
ill leave this here for you guys to enjoy.
and future guy thats having a similar issue....
check your settings lol
