Who makes a good quality threaded shock? I assume that the shocks can be no specific, as far as the maunfacturer of the buggy they will fit onto.

OFNA has their Supershock.....it's the same as the UE shocks for the supermaxx too.....I think that's the only threaded 1/8 scale shock that anyone would consider quality......

I don't think threaded shocks are necessary for a 1/8 buggy. Just use the spacers and you will be all set.

I've got ofna threaded shocks, i think there stock, they work, but not as good as "after market" shocks...

Like plaid said....the kyosho shocks are the best, mugen shocks aren't bad either. get yourself a quality shock and a bunch of preload spacers and forget the threaded shocks.

I like my Ofna threaded shocks, BUT dirt can build up and make it a pain to move. That said I do loke them a LOT.

most 8th scales use non-threaded shocks because the collars will move over a 1 hour main of abuse. kyosho shocks are arguably the best, mugens are good but tend to prematurely wear out the bodies and have inconsistant dampening when that happens. xrays had an early problem with blowing the orings out the bottom but that was fixed. ofna's and jammin shocks are both pretty good. if you want threaded for just bashing or club racing then the ofna threaded shocks are your best bet. dont get sucked into stuff like powerline or gpm shocks, the quality just isnt there for heavy duty use.

sportwerks sells some pretty nice threaded shock, my dad hasn't had a problem with them yet, he even snapped the lower a-arm, hinge pin, bent cvd in one bad wreck...shocks were unharmed, but i agree for racing just stick w/ either mugen or kyosho shocks with some preload spacers

I've got a set (4) threaded Ofna shocks, they need new bladders, if you want them, $35 shipped...

For as often as I adjust my threaded shocks (never), non-threaded would be just fine on both my savage and my buggy. But, I run the OFNA 9.5 shocks that have been discussed in here.

I think OFNA came out with a new set though that have thicker shafts, 3.5mm vs 3mm. They would obviously be more durable.

Found them at tower:
Front
Rear

The next time I bend a shaft, I'm going to try buying the o-rings and stuff for these just to see if they fit. It's only about a $15 waste if they don't.

i boughta set of bladders and o rings for my ofna 9.5 shocks, they were GS racing, the bladders fit fine, but the o rings are to small, so now i have a bunch of those that i can't use....

Olds you should be able to get the shock body separately as well...that would be the part that stops you from using the 3.5 shafts....

I would think it would be the plastic bushings and o-rings, not the bodies. The bodies have about a 4-5mm hole where the shaft goes through, but the bushings have the 3mm hole.

ooo
I thought the body had a smaller hole than that......figured if you got all the parts to upgrade yours and it didn't work all you woud need to change is the body....
