Hey all,

I have a lengthy thread that had a buttload of pics on it and when I created the thread, I put the warning in the title. Well, I had an epiphany the other night and decided today to make all the items I have for sale be a link to the photo instead of display the photo automatically.

Now I tried to change my title and it won't take? At least not when I go to the F/S forum and look at my thread among the other threads. It still has the old title. But when I choose it and go into it, the new title appears on the inside.

Why?

Here's the thread: https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22894

I may be wrong but I believe that when a post is created the title is a primary or indexed field and once created can't be changed.

This is just a guess with my limited knowledge of the database structure of this forum.

Well, that sucks... I understand, but it sucks.

Our databases change the indexes if the value changes and we don't care if the indexed value changes. It happens all the time.

Although, we don't really have a "primary" index on anything. We do structure the tables to a specific storage type and order by.

NOt doubting your memory Eddy but I remember either Error of Sky changing the title of a thread for me once or twice. If memory serves the members can't change the title but the staff can.

El P is correct, changing the title isn't something that is normally done and even took myself a while to find out how to do when we first started. However yes changing a threads title is something a staff member can do.

BTW - I've changed your title for you.

Sure glad WoodiE solved this one. I routinely change titles in the FS section. Haven't been doing so recently due to my allowed on line time. Things are a bit busy for me at the moment, and on top of that I am sick. Sometimes, life just sucks.

As for the DB info, the title is just another attribute like the others. It might be harder to find when it comes to changing it, but it is manageable. The Thread ID is the index (primary key) that can not be changed without some feedback from the database. That is something that WoodiE and only WoodiE should be able to do.
