Thoughts on Tamiya Electric Buggies

I was looking at some of the Rising Storm, Dark impact or Sand-Viper kits to build so I have something to bash around with in the pits with my son and his Nitro truck. Funds are limited so.....

I was into the Tamiyas in the early 80s when they were about the only game in town for on/off road RC cars and trucks. I built quite a few for myself and for other people. They were well made and they were good performers. 20 some years later, I'm sure they're even better.
It was also the joy of the build that made them so appealing to me, but at that time, any bearings vs bushings was an option. Now I see they're part of the kit.
They're a fairly inexpensive way to be in this hobby, and still really enjoy what you're driving.

I am a big fan of Tamiya kits and am currently putting the finishing touches on a Hotshot re-release kit.

I beat the snot of an original Hotshot back in the 80's and when it finally had it I did the same to a Thundershot. They can really take the abuse and are well made and engineered.

If you do get one, I recommend you get either the Rising Storm or Dark Impact since they are 4WD.
