I dont see how ELECTRIC heat would be any diff.
It would take more Electricity to keep warm also wouldnt it?

I mean when Its cold its cold. The electric heater would have to do just as much work and would kick on and off just as much as a gas one would.

Gas wasn't so bad around here untill about 1 1/2 years ago. Gas prices went up 60%. Before that, gas and electricity were right at the same price.

Gas bill last winter was about $500 during a pretty darn cold month. But considered i have about 5500 sq ft to heat (thats with basement), i guess i have to bite the bullet.
poop this month is pretty darn cold too... right now its 3 degrees outside

5500 GOOD LORD that's a lot of sq ft! You must be sellin that ol' smokey white devil to pay for that! Right now our house is 1100 sq ft, the next one we get will be at least 1400...which is really more than enough for just the 2 of us (and still room for a little [shadow=red]devil[/shadow] I mean angel whenever that happens HAHAHA).
Hopefully by then gas/electricity prices will still be the same.

Hey Scummer - You've got me beat by 500sq/ft. but it's only me and the women in my big ass house (lol). I'd actually prefer a smaller house on a bigger lot but I have a relatively big and nice backyard (just want ALLOT of property). Even in a 5000 sq/ft house my gas bill is nothing compared to some here. Then again, I actually turn off the heat @ night for the most part. I'm a licensed Real Estate agent and do sales and resedential investment on the side so house are a forte to say the least. How much did you pay per sq/ft. by chance?? You can PM if you don't wanna talk about it public.

Lol on the handle by the way bro....scummer??

Peace

if they send me a gas bill for 375 dollars I am going to blow up the gas company that is out ragous but you gota have heat so I guess since there is no alternative and it is freaking cold they hold the monopoly wich is suppose to be elegal I thought.

Like my handle, eh? Been using it now for 10 years, started on IRC with it :)
Well, my ground floor space is actually 3500sqft, plus 2000sqft for the basement, which is completely finished. So you can live downstairs too. Thats why i calculated 5500sqft.
I paid 275k for the house.
18000sqft lot plus inground pool with a water heater (which i never use)
2.5 car garage disconnected from the house.
Full brick. Built in 1950.

Well here's some news for you. My power bill ent from 100 to $275 this month. Thought they read the meter wrong. They didn't

So I went out and did an inspection. Around the back of my house, I have a crawlspace access. Stupid wild cats knocked off a 2FT x 6FT acess cover in my foundation. Basically creating a wind tunnnel for the 10 degree air. No wonder my feet were cold at night eh?

Hey scummer, your house would be worth around 6-700k in my neck of the woods... This islands just too damn expensive to live on anymore... It's really getting out of hand...

I can use all of the cubic feet of natural gas that I wish and not get charged a dime for it.
The gas comapny has a well located on my property and I own the mineral rights. So I get it for free.

I also have a natural gas powered 30 KW generator that I can run for a hour or two every week and feed electricty back to the power company and cut my power bill over half. It cost me nothing but basic maintance cost (oil, air filters etc) to operate the generator. The highest power bill I have had to pay in the past four months was $26.78.
