I thought maybe it just created a new exhaust port for itself in the side of the crankcase. Do you think this will affect how it runs? I think it's going to be a bit more difficult to tune now.

Something tells me it's time for a new mill for the lst.
This is the lst that I bought from a friend of mine about a month ago. Haven't had much time to tinker with it. I was finally getting it tuned and it was really starting to run like a champ. Temps were around 230 and I richened it up a tick and was making a high-speed pass, rig was about 100 yards away. I heard a 'tink' and then it died and obviously wouldn't turn over. I thought it was the OWB at first, I didn't even see the hole in the crankcase until the motor was completely off the chassis and I was taking the motor mount off. LOL

It's a .26 and thanks Coach, I'll keep that in mind, I'm not really sure what I'm going to do right now. I posted a thread in the 'Wanted' forum looking for a used motor. I may end up going the rebuild route, but will I need a different crankshaft too? Not sure the differences between the 26 and 427. Crankshaft and carb were the only things that survived, besides the roto-start on the back of the motor.

put one of those boost bottles on it with some jb weld, it will be good as new, and give you 25 extra HP!!

man that has to suck though. hopefully your bad luck doesn't break the bank.

:\yeah I'm not sure of the compatability of the .26 and 427 parts, Its my understanding that just the piston and sleeve are different and the extra ports in the sleeve are the big differences but ????????????

got mine beat for sure. Mine only threw the con rod and made shredded wheat of the insides. Nice carage though.

I know if I had to buy the crankshaft too I might as well look at a new engine, but I still appreciate the offer!!

It didn't make much noise considering what it did, but it was about 100 yards away and those bigger motors/exhaust are a lot different than the revo sound.

My birthday is coming up, maybe I can talk her into letting me get this sweet Axial .28 the LHS has...........NOT!! LOL I'd settle for a new 427 and wish for an OS.

I know I'm new and all, still learning the parts and pieces of the truck, but......
that just doesn't look right!

Somehow the muffler on my truck blew a hole from the inside out, guy at my local hobby store said he'd never seen such a thing and called Traxxas, needless to say, I got myself a new muffler courtesy of Traxxas. Now I've been told to make sure to upgrade each part as it breaks to aluminum, however, looking at *that* I wonder do I really need to?!?

Umm, that would be from doing to many wheelies and landing on it's back too much. :p: j/k.

Aluminum is ok in some spots, too much and you'll end up with bent parts that no longer function. When you jump/bash your truck it's not just the shocks that take the brunt of the force, it's also the A-arms, shock towers etc. They are plastic and can give without bending or breaking. The aluminum looks nice, but be careful on how much you put on.
You should upgrade your parts as they break, companies like RPM offer 'bullet proof' reinforced plastic parts with a lifetime warranty. There is a company that offers a warranty on their aluminum stuff.

WOW!! I say go with a boost port with a side tap to inject ARO, as far as aluminum parts go NitroMistress, bulkheads, hub carriers, and wheel hexes are good places for aluminum but like said before you need to have some areas that give a little, not to mention if you go all aluminum your truck will turn into a big old tank and you will need a bigger engine to get it moving, LOL!!!

Nice mill, I bet the free flowing exhaust lets it run like a champ! How much to outfit mine with the custom exhaust port?...lol

Sorry for your loss though, I know it sucks when stuff breaks.

I'm sure you could put some duct tape over that, maybe a drop of JB Weld (that stuff fixes engine blocks, don't ya know).
