Very neat. I wonder if all that work was thrown away today.
In the '50's transistors and solid state electronics were just getting started. Most of the stuff was tubes and such. Color TV was very rare. I started racing 1/12 scale RC cars in 1984. We were using servos and resistors for speed controls. ESCs were just coming out and were very expensive. The hobby has grown by leaps and bounds since.

Then the battery got low then your car drove full speed into a curb, lol.

I remember getting burned every time I picked up my Tamiya frog from the back. I always thought that was a dumb place to put the resistors lol. I also remember the mechanical speed controller.

My Kyosho Raider had them in a good spot, right next to the receiver under the body. I upgraded it to an esc though.

Look at the photo.... all that glass ! Got me thinking.... wonder how much horsepower would be dedicated to the air conditiong system if they ever put a car like that into production.

They got a new tint that blocks the suns heat. But back then, that would be interesting.

My work truck had all windows tinted, front lightly, back 5 dark. Got the window replaced after a crack, and didnt have tint on the new one. It felt like I was outside, I was actually getting burned inside the truck. 🤣

I can’t wait for the future of battery technology in RC’s, imagine how lightweight and small they would be!

Can you imagine the chaos with todays short attention span? o_O
